My child has a birthday coming up and his father is in Mexico now. I would call him but I am afraid that his parents will answer and my Spanish is not the best unfortunately. I know some Spanish, I can pick up on some words but I can't speak it fluently. I sent him a letter written in Spanish ( translated via a computer program)a month ago and have not reiceved a letter back. He can speak English but I don't think he can write very well in it. Should I call him or should I write him a letter?

You should call him. even if his parents answer just say your name and they'll probably know who you are. The reason I wouldn't send a letter to Mexico is for for the same reason that happen to you. He hasn't send one back probably cause he never got it. And a Phone call, you'll know for sure he got it.

Shouldn't he be calling you too? Have a friend who is fluent in spanish call for you and if the parents answer the phone then your friend can converse with them and ask for your child's father.

I think that you should write the letter in english. That way you know for sure that he can read it.

Let him call you. He knows how to pick up a phone and dial.
