PAULINE N: My dear I'm afraid it is you who is the moron I do not have Pit Bulls I have English Bull Terriers, which were origionally bred to kill bulls then eventually bred to fight other dogs. That has been a thing in the past and I do not support it in any way. I think people like you should be ashamed of yourselves for taring dogs of this breeding with the same brush. IT IS NOT THE DOGS FAULT HUMANS TAUGHT THEM WHAT THEY KNOW!! My dogs are as soft as **** and have not got a nasty bone in their body. As with ALL dogs they can never be totally trusted but I trust my dogs over the neighbours Boarder Collie which is so board stiff it has bitten children. Shouldn't that be on the dangerous dogs list? I know of more collies and Jack russels that have bitten people than Bullys. So take your high and mighty attitude and shove it up your ****!! The dogs which are lebelled Devil Dogs are the innocent ones in all of this it is not their fault their owners are totally irrisponcible idiots!

I don't over bath them they get bathed once every month because they get a bit wiffy but not weekly or anything like that. They are still growing so I have to de flea them once a month so I do the bath and front line the same day or the day after. They are groomed daily too so I do take god care of them and they have the best of everything there is no point in spending £800 on a pup and then skimping on everything else!

ok any dog shampoo works just remember dogs are like humans we all have oil in our bodies. I have a problem giving my dogs a bath more then they need but i have to have clean dogs and i do i have 4 dachshunds. So the vet said we you take out the oil (from the bath) just remember to replace it. So i put a bit of baby oil in bath water and when all done a small amount in palm and i rub hands together and rub all over the dog. It makes their coat beautiful and shiney. Or put a few drops of veggie oil in their food. Thanks

The best thing I have found for doggy dry skin is used AFTER the bath. Start with the shampoo you or the dog likes best, yes oatmeal is usually preferable. But, immediately following the rinsing, while they are still relatively wet, take a solution of 1 part Avon Skin So Soft bath oil to 4 or 5 parts warm water. Pour over the dog slowly and rub the solution into it's fur. Yes, they'll smell like a flower (lol) but it really does work great. And, it's completely safe for dogs or cats. It's also a wonderful bug and flea / tick deterrant.

Just make sure you don't use the SSS that has sunscreen in it!

Go to the vet first - skin problems come from within. You need to know why your dog's skin is flaky - it could be a mite, an allergy, or just a lack of omega-3 oil in his diet. but you need to know, before you do anything. Shampoo is a temporary fix, and if your dog has a probem that needs treatment, any shampoo could just be another source of irritation. Ask your vet to do a skin scraping and a diagnosis first.

I find Bob Martin pet products are good. But you really shouldn't bath them too often as it washes the natural oils out of the coat and dries their skin. They will also get wetter when it rains as they don't have the natural water repellant that the oils provide.
When you do bath them rinse them really well until the water runs clear and then a little more, towel dry them really really well and then leave to air dry. A hairdryer will also dry their skin. You could also check with your vet as some breeds are prone to dry skin (My friend has West Highland Terriers that get flaky skin.) He may advise on a medicated shampoo. Hope this helps.

You could be bathing them too often. They should only be bathed once a month or less if possible. It can also be due to diet.. What do you feed? I would suggest Lassie natural way (found at www.lassie.com/naturalway), Natural Balance, Innova Dog, Soild Gold, Timber Wolf, Chicken Soup For the Dog lovers soul Or Diamond Naturals lamb and rice. As far as shampoo I would suggest a top quality baby shampoo with milk added or something with oat meal in it.

skin disorders in dogs. One of the most common form of eczema is atopic dermatitis. The symptoms of eczema may vary from dog to dog. Common for eczema in dogs is a red itchy scalp. Another eczema symptom is a dry skin with scaly skin rashes. In other dogs small bumps occur that become moist and oozing.
It appears that the cause of eczema is an abnormal response of the dogs immune system. Eczema is not contagious. Dogs with eczema" eczema are prone to develop yeast infections.

Causes of eczema in dogseczema:
Industrial chemicals, detergents, fumes, paints, bleach, acidic foods, alcohol-containing skin care products and grooming fragrances

Allergens that increase eczema:
animal or vegetable proteins from commercial dog foods (food allergy), pollens

Stress, boredom, and loneliness cause itching and eczema

Extreme changes of the temperature:
Bringing your dog into an air-conditioned room after he was outside all day is stressful. Dogs cannot rapidly compensate this change. Better is clipping the dog down
]Eczema treatment:Boost the dogs immune system
Soak or compress the eczema area with potassium permanganate.
Add Neem leaf tea, and evening primrose oil to the dog food until the eczema disappears.
Apply Neem oil to the dogs skin after bathing to decrease the itching skin rashes.
Bathing the dog with shampoo only if realy necessary. In most cases, the eczema will disappear very soon.
You can use oilatum an emoilant wash available from your chemist or even ASDA this will stop the itching.
We also use polytar shampoo to soothe the skin and emove the particles causing the irritation.

Look for a soap free dog shampoo. It won't strip the oils off the coat. Also the dog food you're feeding is just as important. If it isn't a premium brand it may be the reason for dry skin. Also don't bathe your dogs unless necessary. Frequent bathing can dry the skin.
