It only tests for active disease (aswell as overall function). Hep is not something that is regularly tested for unless you had an abnormal liver function test or had some type of possible exposure (needle stick, dangerous sex). In the later situations you can explain your fears to the provider and they will allow you to have the specific Hep A, B, etc. test done. This will show if you have a dormint hep.

Good luck

A standard liver function test shows only liver functions. Get a hepatitis panel done (for A, B, & C) to put any fears out of your head. Some health dept.'s do it for free, and there are home test kits available where you prick your finger and mail the sample away, results in about 2 weeks(around 60-$100). Get the test and quit worrying.

Standard liver tests - commonly known as a hepatic function panel or liver enzymes will only show actual liver impairment. If you are really concerned about viral hepatitis, you can have specific tests done for those diseases. Normally - Hep A, B and/or C. Other infectious diseases can affect liver function as well.

Call the doctor and ask if you were tested for it. If you weren't then get tested if it bothers you that much. I'm like that too. I think I have every desease in the book. Welcome to Crazy Town!
