Seriously. It sounds like a dumb question but I am being serious on this one. Most of the mentally challenged cant really think on their own, their brain doesnt process or whatever..They have trouble comprehending obviously. So...heaven or hell for them???

No, it's a very good question.

Arminianism: Developmentally deficient adults (DDAs) hold the same status as infants, unable to make a decision for Christ, and therefore they are not accountable and will go to heaven.

Calvinism: DDAs stand in need of a savior the same as infants. They are baptized under God's covenant the same as circumcision would have been done in the Old Testament, where they are "marked out" for God's kingdom. God is the author and finisher of salvation, electing whom he will for eternal life. It's not our call, we simply do what God's people do, and raise both child and DDA in a loving, Christian manner.

I cant quote you any doctrine directly, but for children and handicapped, there's sort of an exempt clause. I had the same thoughts myself, because my sister happens to be mentally retarded. I say heaven.
Another question I wondered about related to sentient primates. Koko the Gorilla for example...does she have a soul? Can she 'go to heaven"? Just food for thought.

those who do not have the capacity to understand salvation of course God will take to heaven, just like young babies and children who are not old enough to understand- remember God is merciful. I know a few people though who are mentally challenged and they worship
God better than most of us do- they come to Jesus with child-like faith.
Never forget though that His mercy is what saves all of us, and of course if people are unable to understand or have never heard the truth then God will take them to heaven.

No, everyone will be judged by how much they understand and how intelligent they are.

a person who was raised in a jungle will be judged by his understanding. he doesn't need to have a religion to go to heaven since no one ever told him about any religion(talking about indians and those who for example lived in Amazon for some centuries ago).

but the main thing is that you'll be judged by your understanding.

The OBVIOUS answer should be Heaven! You answered your own question as far as why they should go to Heaven is concerned.

Jesus said the innocent are saved: Those that don't have the capacity to make a personal choice to be saved.

Including babies, small children, retarded people, etc

Considering the depth of your question I'll assume you're concerned about your future, Hetty.

I think retarded people go where everyone else goes (and all the animals and other things that can't think for themselves go) when they die: the ground.

The end.

Heaven. God will not condemn someone who never got a chance to follow him.
