Guelph...has a university, nicely laid out, French and English schools, and the cost of living wouldn't be as high as OAVILLE!

I am biased to this question. Oakville is where I live and hands down the best community listed above. However, Guelph is an area that I would like to live except that is not close enough to my workplace. Oakville has everything while keeping the smalltown feel, it is even classified as a town. It is close enough to TO, with the Go Train and QEW for transportation. The property value out of this world with nice parks, recreation facilities and green space.

I lived in Maple before, we looked around and Oakville was the best.

Cheers.

Barrie is dump, I personally hate that place and it's too far north. Guelph is okay but there isn't much there. Richmond Hill is also a dump.

Oakville is my favorite place. It's on the lake, and it's really nice downtown, and there are lot's of trendy stores. It's one of the richest towns in Canada, the newer part of Oakville doesn't look very wealthy, but along the lake shore and on Lake Shore Rd, there are HUGE mansions, and there is the Ballymena house which was for sale for 42 million dollars a couple months ago. Lot's of nice parks too, especially Bronte area, and the water front trail.

I like Oakville the best. It certainly have jobs, but it is so quiet and safe, I'd love to raise my family there. Housing is a bit expensive though, but hey, that's what you get when you are by the major expressway going to Toronto in one direction and going to the U.S in the other. Besides, the city is by the lake too. Whatelse can you ask for.

Why not Maple, Vaughan, or Woodbridge ;)

I would take those 3 over richmond hill, oakville, guelph, and barrie. For all the reasons you stated...

Oakville is the best! It has beautiful neighborhoods with big nice houses, it's quite safe, downtown is great, with many nice stores, coffee shops and restaurants. It's on the lake, which I really like. Sometimes you drive in the car and then just the lake appears in your view, it's beautiful.
Oakville rulz ;-)

I'm not a suburbs person, but if you had to make me choose I'd say Oakville. Nice little city, and close to Toronto and Hamilton.

Probably Oakville based on the criteria you listed.

Barrie is the worst place on earth, unless you still like 80's hair cuts and no entertainment.

Guelph is nice as well.
