I have an electric stapler on my desk at work. Today, it has started making a purring/growling noise, and suddenly stapling 4 or 5 times in a row. There is nothing in it triggering it! What the heck is going on? My cell phone is next to it and I know sometimes cell phones make computer screens fuzzy temporarily or speakers buzz. Does anyone know if a cell phone could make a stapler staple on its own???

The interference caused by your cell phone can influence the electrical current in nearby devices. This could be causing your stapler to falsely detect a staple trigger. Thus resulting in your random multiple staplings.

Or it could be that electronics have finally gained sentience and have begun their killing rampage to control the world. Run away!

That is absolutely weird! I think a cell phone may introduce electronic pulses when it goes into roam or analog which might trigger the stapler. Interesting.

I think that it just goes googely when you are around. It probably has a huge crush on you, and it wants you to touch it more. Maybe you should try to staple things more and throw the paper clips away.
