I just bought some starbucks coffee to make at home. I bought the small 2.5 oz packets to get an idea of what flavor I like. The back of the pack says to use the whole pack but it seems like a lot. Could anyone give me an idea of how many TBSP they use when brewing a 12 cup pot full.

The classic formula that Starbucks would probably recommend is two tbsp. per each 8oz cup. However, commercial brewing equipment, due to the temperature of the water used, the degree of filtration, and the volume brewed at a time, produces a very different result using the same water/to coffee proportion.

For a twelve cup pot, I would recommend starting with 18tbsp and see how you like that.

I don't have a measuring spoon at work, so I just use one of the plastic spoons that are always lying around. I use 6 heaping plastic spoonfuls for a 12 cup carafe.

Every coffee is different. You are going to have to experiment...how do you like your coffee?? Strong, medium, or weak? I would go with about half to 3/4 of the bag.
