I mean, well i have a lot of thoughts about this.. but heres one example, not of thinking deeply, but just in general.. I showed my mum a picture of really alternative band, who i think have amazing style and taste, and she told me they looked ridiculous, and in 20 years time i'll think so too.. well dont you think it's better that i dont? and hopefully never will..? why would i want to be the average 40 year old women , clad in waterproof coat, sensible straight leg jeans, short masculin hair cut and mother of 3 children....?
and the worst part is, they're happy to be like that...just like everyone else.. which is what i really don't get...

YES they do think of things a lot.

Which is why I would want to see all teenagers in nightclubs from 16-19..

Just not getting their mits on alcohol as its this age group most into music deeply creating culture with fashion, creativity, breeding new underground music scnes and sadly not know but in the past the most politically passionate.

Certainly the most passionate in love and most kissy paw paw in public and most in love.

Most fun and outgoing.

thtas whay all these older guys want to date younger girls around 18. Not as they are perves into one thing sexually.

But as the girls that age are the most passionate, energetic and fun.

Many probably divorce as no longer making out in public and living to some stupid rule book...

the only thing you should do as you get older is to be responsible for those younger then you, weaker and les experienced then you, helping them where needed and stopping them from majorly screwing up as they need somone like you to do it.

In the same sense that the rock climbing marerick screw up who pushes luck as a teenager needing rescuing becomes the rescuer when older.

But no need to become boring in other sense like hair and no kissing girlfriends or partying etc.

Yes, well.. the thing is most of us thought just like you when we were younger. And yes, the bands that I adored in the 80's look extremely silly now. And then I learned that I don't have answers to everything and that bands and make-up and all that gets boring after a while, so I kinda grew up. Besides, as long as women in their 40's are happy as they are I can't see the problem. And if you don't want 3 kids and the hair cut and all that, then don't have them. It's a big world with endless options. But you're way of life is not the only right one, so don't go judging others! Good luck with the choices you make!

Oh to be a teen again....

I was the wild child with crazy clothes and crazy hair, piercings and tattoos, liked different kinds of music....I just wanted to be an individual and to show my sense of style. And I did...believe me, I soooo did.

Years later I realized that conformity isn't always a bad thing. Try getting an office job with a face full of holes and pink hair - it doesn't work out too well. The world will not conform to you - to succeed in it sometimes I think we need to be willing to make changes to be a little more mainstream in our professional lives. I don't mean squash your individuality - just recognize that being "like other people" isn't always a bad thing.

Tho....when I am 40, I hope I can still enjoy alternative bands....and appreciate their uniqueness. ;)

First of all... How old would you consider to old to be a teenager?
I'm 22 and I still fell like a teen on some days and others... I feel like your 'average 40 year old'. I have a 15 yr old sister and a 17 yr old brother and I think that it really depends on the situation. Not all think to deeply on alot of things. Most tend to take things as a joke more than half the time. So.... it depends on the teen.

it would be nice to think that OLD people have gained some wisdom through their years of life but alas that is not always the case. Many times some just get old and more ditzy and some youngens are as smart as a whip and with luck make something very productive with their lives . If you don't pay your own way in this world by giving to others, well then, nothing admirable about that kind of human in my book .....of course my book changes like the sands in the dunes and i'm not stuck on stupid ....wheew, there is hope :)

honey, not all mothers are like this. majority of them are, and it sounds like your mother is one of them. i am 24 and a mother of 2, married, college graduate, working professional (artist) and i love alternative bands. i was goth in high school. my parents said it was a phase- which they were right about, but not in the way that they thought, that i would completely change. your lifestyle does modify certain things, like i can't just go comfortably into a supermarket wearing black lipstick with my toddler and daughter in the middle of suburbia, but the rebellion is inside, and the outside is still pretty affected by that. but it matures. i think most mothers just give up on things like that, are swayed by the opinions of their "peers" but i refuse to. and i know a lot of "alternative" parents out there who are great parents, and great people, and look totally weird! in the best way, of course.

please watch SLC Punk---there's a lot of good points in that movie. but time is really what will tell.

In general some people think more deeply than other people. I don't think you can classify it with age. My 11 year daughter has been contemplating lifes mysteries since she was 5. And then there is my ex-husband who is all good as long as he is fed and sexed and doesn't appear to be thinking about much else.

you'll live to inform the tale those years. We had the same difficulty. even as our daughter became interior the fifth grade she became waiting for junior intense; seventh grade & she became waiting for prime college, as a HS junior she became waiting for faculty. She's 37 now. So cases were diverse. We only did not enable her commence issues too early, like relationship utilising a vehicle. We tried to save particular judgements out of her palms, to reduce her independence. She reported she had the earliest curfew in all 3 cities. All little ones will say this, even though it became the actuality even as she reported it. We were in a three college athletic cooperative & i became suitable of between the colleges. actually, maximum did no longer have curfews. My spouse had concepts on even as she ought to positioned on makeup & relationship, I agreed so we were fortunate there. We saved held her lower back as a lot as attainable. It took various of artwork & attempt. We, with good reason, did not believe different father and mom. So even as she went to a live performance on the straightforward, we picked her & her acquaintances up afterwards. a number of her classmates were out to 2-3 am. do not make threats you received't lower back up. do not say you'll floor her for a month & then enable her out & about interior a week. Then there'll be authentic complications. I stated various of that with some father and mom & it wasn't good. Compromise: She became wearing makeup & relationship in the previous my spouse, & I, had initially planned, even though it became a lot later than she had needed. She became a good youngster, yet she nonetheless drove us loopy. each and everything grew to grow to be out properly & she is the mummy of three boys, so i wager we did all precise.

Its the change in time, its alright for them to be like that, but you have to consider as teenagers and this generation we've seen alot happen in terms of religion, economics, news, global issues, society etc and therefore it has made us adjust our way of thinking and see things differently. Usually the types of music we listen to reflect this. Don't feel like yo have bad taste my parents always say it to me but its bcos its not the sort of thing they listen to, bearing in mind most bands are aimed at teens/twenties etc.
