My hair used to be extremely thick, and I mean very, very thick. And now, in my early 20’s, my hair is a lot, lot thinner. My hair is very long (till right above my hips). Some people tell me to cut my hair, and it will grow back thicker.
Is this true? Why is it true? Where did you get your information?

Any help would be welcome. I really don’t want to cut my hair, but I do want it thicker.
Thanks

Nope. It will only slow down your hair growth, but trimming it regularly is a good idea. My hair is slightly longer than yours (from your description) and it got A LOT thinner over the past few years (also in my early 20's). I think that it's from stress and other health factors. Also, one girl told me that once your hair reaches a certain length it will start falling out. I don't know if it's true or not. DON'T cut your hair because some people are jealous of your hair believe it or not.
Oh by the way, if you've heard of shikakai, I would try that if I were you. One Indian girl I know said that she washed with it and her hair grew back (she started losing her hair), but she told me to wash with it regularly.( Unfortunately, I don't have that opportunity). You can try this website below:

Do some research on it and you'll find that it's a helpful herb. I wish you the best!!!

That is a myth. Cutting your hair does NOT make it grow back thicker. It only appears to be thicker because you are cutting the ends off. Think about it. find a diagram of a strand of hair. It is thick at the root and gets thinner and comes to a point. when u cut ur hair, that point is jsut removed and it appears thicker because of the blunt cut. as time goes on the ends wear away again.

you've one suitable answer given to you so a concepts. Your hair grows in because it is. The more desirable you trim it, each and every 6 weeks is perfect, the more desirable it keeps from splitting. Hair thins on the bottom over the years with the aid of breakage and cut up ends. Trimming, no longer slicing, keeps it healthy, allowing it proceed to be thicker on the ends. This creates an accepted fuller fit seem!

not always.
in my opinion do not cut it, cause it may not grow back thicker but just as thin only slower.
but in order to give impression of wealthy hair you may cut only the rare tips and make it equal, and eventually curl it a little. Good luck.
The information about cut it and it will grow I heard it many times too in my family, on women magazines, etc.
The thinner hair may be caused of some hormonal changes, pills or something...
Anyway, even your shampoo may be under suspicion or other hair products, take care. You better go once to a hair expert, a stylist or even a doctor.I don't know if I'm allowed to say this here but the times when I used Elseve from L'oreal paris, shampoo and hair conditioner it worked great.

Trees and plants grow better if trimmed properly and at the right time, because they are living things. Hair is dead tissue wich our bodies push out; neither cutting nor trimming is going to make any difference as far as thickness and growth are concerned. But if u cut ur hair very short or better still, shave it off and regularly massage your scalp u may get some result.

Cutting it will give the illusion of thicker hair it won't actually be thicker. Try getting it layered that will make it appear thicker without losing the length. Also ask your hairdresser about Nioxin products they work great.

No I do not think cutting your hair will make it grow back thicker. I think that as you age your hair ages as well and transforms into it's mature state along with the rest of you. Just as your body has to be maintained by healthy activity your hair needs to same care. Your hair and nails are living breathing organs like the rest of you and if you are not careful they like you body will reflect poor habits as well as good habits.

Cutting the bottom of it blunt will make it seem thicker there. At the scalp...I dont think it would be thicker. Check into your diet and also stress levels. People lose hair due to stress and poor diet.
