I am agnostic but, I have a question. On so many of these q's and a things so many people say "glorify god" and blah blah blah. But, if "God" was so good and humble, why would he want you to Glorify him so much? Isn't it enough to just believe in him and do what you think is right and good? Instead of going by his word ALL THE TIME? There are still so many good ppl. out there who don't Glorify God all the time but do what they believe is right. I guess my question is, why do we have to Glorify God?

You should never feel like you "have" to glorify God. If you feel that way, you may want to check your heart.

If you work and no one ever says, "What a good job," and never recognizes you in any way, how would feel? Not very good, probably. I know that I appreciate praises from people.

God does not want us to "have to" glorify Him. He wants us to want to glorify Him because we love Him. It's not a duty-related thing, it's a love-related thing. Love to God is an action word, not a feeling.

When you love someone, you want to do nice things for them, you want their approval, you want them to know how much you love them. God is no different. He wants our genuine love, not what you are talking about. If He had wanted robots (push a button--"I love you God," another button--I will do something nice for you now, God," etc.), He would have created us in that way. He wants us to make the choice.

Living by God's word is not doing what you think and feel is right. It is doing what God tells us is right and good, and then we make the choice to live it or not.

God says no man is good for we all are sinners and fall short of the glory of God. We must all come to God of our own free will. No man seeks after God, God seeks us. He chooses us. His Holy Spirit comes forth to soften our hearts, so that we may accept the Lord.

All people on earth have the chance at salvation.

P.S. Laptop gives a good example of what you are referring to, and my statement about God not wanting us to be robots.

Our prayers and praises should come from the heart, not someone standing up, saying "repeat after me."

At some point as people we have to acknowledge that I am nothing without God...in the Bible we read first in Acts 17:28 that in him we live and move and have our being...so first we glorify God cause in him we have life...The angels per what we read first in Isaiah 6 are constantly singing the praises of God...so we glorify him cause he is worthy...and then in Matthew 5:16 we read...let your light so shine before men that your good works be shown and God be glorified...and then finally in Phillippians 2:11-19...we read that all man (even you) will eventually glorify God..."wherefore God hath highly exalted Him and has given HIM a name which is above every name that at the name of JESUS every knee will bow"....

Praise is cheap, just like the other kinds of talk. There are those who believe God is best glorified by our actions. What good is praise if God's justice and mercy are not demonstrated by his followers?

u believe in unicorns but not God. u glorify God because He is God and He gave u the life u have. u keep Him in your life and He will keep u even closer.

u love your daughter how would u feel if she never told u "i love u" or that u make the best "peanut butter and jelly sandwich". think about when she becomes a bitter teenager. u will keep on reaching out to her but she won't bulge, how will u feel then.

Psalms 34:1-5
I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul will make it’s boast in the Lord; The humble will hear it and rejoice. O magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together.
I sought the Lord, and He answered me, And delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces will never be ashamed.

We have such a great God. I am amazed at His love for me. There is nothing better I can do, no greater joy, then to spend my time in a quiet place, alone in the presence of God

We glorify Him because our life, our very existence comes from Him. We glorify Him because He gave us life because He loves us. If you believe in Him, then you will learn His teachings and follow them. That is what it means to follow God.

First off, you can't get into heaven for just being good. If so, Jesus wouldn't have had to die on the cross. Secondly, I glorify God because I want to. I love him

God told them to.

And when Christ showed ppl how to pray "do it like this..." and then he did the lords prayer - it had a lot of toadying in it.

(My favorite example, from Python's "the Meaning of Life")

Palin: Let us praise God.
[The congregation rises.]
Palin: O Lord…
Congregation: O Lord…
Palin: … ooh, You are so big…
Congregation: … ooh, You are so big…
Palin: … so absolutely huge.
Congregation: … so absolutely huge.
Palin: Gosh, we’re all really impressed down here, I can tell You.
Congregation: Gosh, we’re all really impressed down here, I can tell You.
Palin: Forgive us, O Lord, for this, our dreadful toadying, and…
Congregation: … and barefaced flattery.
Palin: But You’re so strong and, well, just so… super.
Congregation: Fantastic!
Palin: Amen.
Congregation: Amen.
[The congregation sits again.]
