I assume you have been bombarded with "proof" of God.

Do you think I'm trying to prove anything?

If any of you have studied the Bible, you would know that "proving God" can only be done by God. I just tell them what Jesus has done for me.

I ask of you:

Stop mocking me. I don't mock you.

I asked a reasonable question.

You overestimate who I am.

My intention is not to prove anything.

Take it for what it is, and answer my questions.

If you don't want to believe, that's cool.

Just don't call me a "moron" and tell me to "get a grip".

Do you think you over-generalize "Christian"?

Don't you know we are all individuals?

Don't let one person ruin a label.

All theists by definition believe in supernatural fairytales and are wilfully ignorant.

According to you.

Oh but believe me. I don't overestimate you. I never overestimate a religious person. I know exactly how pathetic and dull witted they are.

I'm far from religious, my friend.

The Pope is religious.

Actually in some of your questions you seem to be mocking others quite well. Especially the one about pedophiles in relation to homosexuals. Learn to practice what you preach.
------------------------

I'm merely questioning it. And I was referring to the laws behind that, not the people themselves.

Doug: an answer.

And that was a lot of questions/statement.

Not everybody on here is calling you a moron. Look at your last question and do the percentage thing. See how many people devolved into name-calling.

Try to seperate people mocking *you* vs people challenging aspects of your belief system. It's important to depersonalize that aspect of it.

I don't think you're trying to prove anything, per se. I think you're making a sincere effort to save the lost. I did stuff like that too. Hell is a suck concept and you don't want ppl to end up there.

1. You ARE trying to prove something- otherwise you wouldn't be "questioning" all of the atheists (I read your questions, and the way you worded those, you were begging to be mocked).
2. People will not stop mocking you as long as you are here. Deal with it. This is a PUBLIC forum. You will meet opposition- thats reality.
3. Nobody is over or underestimating who you are- in most cases we don't care who you are. You are ultimately a source of points. People don't respect you here universally. Just like in real life, you have to EARN respect on here at an individual basis...
4. Yes. Christians are overgeneralized, as is the term. I look at it from two perspectives- there are reasonable and unreasonable people. Literal interpreters, and people who use the Bible as a set of guidelines. Following the teachings of Jesus is fine... following an ancient volume of books word for word that opposes HUGE advancements in the human race (Evolutionary studies, stem cell research, women's rights, race, homosexuality, slavery, etc.)... that's irresponsible and foolish- there is NO PROOF of god... from that statement, you can have all the faith you want. The only thing you will ever truly KNOW is the fact that you are alive, and have this life you need to maintain. In this case, you need to look at human need FIRST- that need is for equality, disease control, and proper education. Without this focus, the human race will not survive.
5. People won't call you names and tell you to get a grip if you word your questions more politely (that includes removing the pious attitude from the wording). You can't stop everyone, but when you get enough insults about the same thing, you have to consider WHY you might be hearing this negative feedback- remember there is no such thing as bad criticism... although I agree some of that was poor delivery...
6. All I got was "see a therapist"

Ha. A therapist can't come close to what Jesus has done for me.
That would constitute a pious attitude.

Now, I'm not saying don't defend yourself, but comments like that are completely unnecessary. If someone insults you, report them instead of gratifying them with a response.
7. One person didn't ruin the "Christian" label... A LOT OF CHRISTIANS ruined their label.

Proving God can only be done by God, huh? How convenient. What establishes that as fact, the Bible?

What about Jesus, then? How do you prove that "what Jesus has done" for you isn't all in your head? You are telling people that Jesus has done certain things for you. You are making a claim. Prove it. Jesus that died a very long time ago. So, where is he? Is he in the same place as Elvis, because there are people out there who believe he's still alive too, and of the two of them, my money would be on Elvis because he only died in 1977.

Proving gravity can be done by dropping something. What you believe has not, and cannot be proven, because it is nothing more than superstition, and if you are going to counter logical arguments with self-pitying garbage like this question, there isn't much point in even reponding to you, because you aren't interested in reality, you are interesting in reinforcing your own delusions and those of others.

I am not sure what you are trying to do. Some people in this forum attempt to prove god through the bible (or the Qur'an), which is of course nonsensical as it would be circular reasoning. More people ask for proofs of the non-existence of god, as if the inability to come up with such a proof were somehow a proof the other way (of course, it is nothing of the sort). Still others inveigh readers to seek Jesus, as if this unproved thesis would somehow be of benefit. My views are: the existence of god can be neither proved nor disproved. But it can be proved, starting from there, that any such belief is worthless: it can have no consequence of any sort in the real world. It is obviously simpler to omit belief, and worry about other things. I highly recommend:

Its also a generalisation and untrue to say you can't define a group with a label. All sheep have 4 legs and wooly coats, OK?

All theists by definition believe in supernatural fairytales and are wilfully ignorant.

Oh but believe me. I don't overestimate you. I never overestimate a religious person. I know exactly how pathetic and dull witted they are.

Thank you. It's refreshing to see that not all christians are filled with hatred. I wish more people would realise that. Unfortunately the fundies are the ones causing most of the problems, since they are evil, and do not act very christian. It's their hypocrisy that gives your faith a bad name. Sadly though, not everyone sees that, and tars you all with the same brush. I'm an atheist, and I get fed up of the nastieness that is hurled in my direction. We should all accept each others beliefs, as long as they don't preach hate.

That was not really a question, but I'll answer the one you did pose. I think you are trying to prove your faith to yourself. Stop trying so hard. If what you believe is true, it should be self evident. If not, perhaps you don't have all the answers. Think for yourself and don't accept what others tell you as absolute truth. No one has a monopoly on wisdom.

Im sorry, hun--I know this Q! of yours is for the athiests. BUT,,,I had to say a couple things....

FIRST OF ALL.....AMEN! You hit the nail on the head; this is wonderful. We are individuals, in the eyes of the "world", and I do agree, we should be seen that way. BUT...we are also ONE in Christ, as the BODY OF CHRIST, with Christ being the Head of this "body: the church."

I just wanted to say, this is awesome, and that the entire world
( void the Catholic church)....is UNAWARE that catholics shouldnt even be considered christians, as they are wholly responsible for the Crusades.....that these who name the name of Christ thru-out history....have been a work of the enemy, to give us REAL CHRISTIANS a horribly bad name, as anyone who follows Christ, would never allow for all that the Catholic church has done......not allowing anyone to read the scriptures, changing the scriptures, they themselves (look it up folks), have said there be no higher authority than the pope, including GOD......they say, the catholic church gets the final word.....

But whatever.....Athiests will believe what they will, and with the broad sweeping remarks and beliefs, we, the Christian--look like fools. Vengeance and recompense are in the LORD's hand, so we need to just press on in prayer for the unsaved, and hang on firmly to the innerant Word....living it, and not just hearing it.

Thank you for allowing me to butt in an say a thing or two...Im putting a star on this Q!
God Bless you!!!!!!!
