As often as you want. Make sure to use a moisturizing shampoo and dry him well so that his skin and coat don't dry out. Once a week is generally good enough though, tell him to stop playing with skunks.

Well, My oldest dog has allergies so she has to get a bath once a week. However, the average dog should only be bathed once a month or even less if possible or its skin may dry out and become flakey and irritated, even itchy. If you must, you could probably however get away with bathing the dog every three weeks, but be sure to use a soft shampoo that will be easy on the skin, such as Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo. I only use Baby shampoo on my dogs as it is much safer, and you don't have to worry about getting it in the eyes.

for any breed, I wouldn't suggest more than once a month cause too much washing takes off alot of protection from the skin which can bring down their immune system. My rotties living to the age 14 only had a real shampooed bath twice? other times it just swam in the pool...so I'd suggest just use plan water for washing

Not too often as you dont want to dry his natural oils otherwise he will get falky skin. I would say once every couple months. You can buy dog wipes to use in betweel. They are good for muddy paws and they also help with grooming. Dry shampoos are another option. If you do bath him in the colder months make sure you dry him well otherwise he will suffer with pains in joints when he gets older. We take our Rottie to grooming parlour when she needs bath as she is crossed with a Gt Dane. Imagine that in the shower.lol

Hi,

the rule of thumb I generally used (which I picked up from another site) is if you stroke the dog for a couple of minutes and your hand feels a bit greasy then it's time for a wash. Personally, I can't really smell my dog if she gets grubby, but I can feel if she needs it. It works out to about every 3 - 5 weeks.

They have very oily skin generally, so once or twice a month. Use a gentle soap for dogs, not humans. You can wipe them down with a damp cloth between baths, if you're allergic to their skin oil (which I am)...especially their muzzle and paws.
Don't bathe them oftener than every 2 weeks tho.

Generally you don't have to wash your dog, although some love to get dirty and smelly, etc.

Then just wash as needed. My dog generally gets a bath two or three times a year.

It's more important to brush them at least once a week.

I would think as often as you needed to, within reason, I mean it is a dog, let it be a dog!
just be careful not to dry out the skin by washing too often.

Wash every two weeks and make sure you brush them once a day. Not only do will your dog enjoy the brushing, but he'll be clean of dirt and particulates that his fur picks up. AND he'll be bee-ut-yful!!!
