There is a simple surgery procedure that you can be out the doctors office in an hour, and from what i hear its enexpensive, what they do is insert three hard plastic strips about half the size of a toothpick that will not allow the thing in the back of your throat that flaps which cause the snoring sound..i seen it on discovery health...guy was in and out in 45 minutes and the procedure was almost painless....you should look into it.

When I was younger, and lived at home, my mom or dad would fall asleep on the chair.. and start snoring loud.. and I'd just cough a lot until they snapped out of it hahaha. It works! Try it!

You know, depending on how he feels throughout the day, maybe it would be best to have him see a doctor to perhaps slip him in a sleeping clinic. Often times snoring can be related to a condition called Sleep Apnea. What happens is the tongue falls to the back of the throat, causing a blockage in the area way, hense the snoring. Sometimes, periods of not breating, or even choking like sounds will accompany this. Treatment of choice for this condition is a Bipap sleep mask. It's a mask worn at bedtime that is hooked to a machine that basically pushes air into his lungs, and keeps the airway open. I have hear from a number of people how Bipap or even Cpap machines were a blessing, it relieved snoring, and made them feel great throughout the day. Their sleep was the best they have ever had.
Hope this helps!

Aside from sleeping in seperate rooms, you could try those breathe right strips. They supposedly are pretty effective in clearing up the nasal passages. If that does not work you should encourage your husband to see a doctor. Studies have shown that snooring is not good one's heart, and has a negative effect on one's quality of sleep. It sure is effecting your quality of sleep.

Sounds to me like it's time for him to see a specialist. Sometimes the snoring can be fixed if he has surgery to remove the uvula. I know it doesn't always work, but it may be worth it if a specialist thinks it will help.

Breath Right strips are a blessing! My husband wears these and the snoring stops. Your husband may have to adjust each night where he positions them on his nose to get the right place but once he finds it (you'll know). They will become your best friend!

I hate earplugs, too. They hurt! Anyway, if you have tried everything over-the-counter, then you should tallk to your husbands doctor and see what he suggests. If he's overweight, that could play into it.

Sleeping on the back (usually in the overweight ) can cause snoring -also blood pressure medication can cause nasal congestion and mouth breathing . Severe snoring can be life threatening as it leads to apnea or loss of breath .. Several suggestions -see if your dentist is familiar with a small oral appliance worn at nite that pushes on the soft flap at the back of the mouth . Also some Nose and throat doctors are reporting success with a small operation to remove excess tissue at the back of the throat ,and lastly listen to your husbands breathing at nite -if it's stop and go with a lot of gasping between, he needs to be evaluated for a positive pressure breathing device worn at nite to force air into his lungs and prevent oxygen starvation and heart stoppage
