I don't believe in anything. There are things I know, things that have been shown to be true through facts and replicable experiments demonstrating a fact. Example. I know that water boils at 212 F at sea level. I've done that experiment many times. The boiling point of water is a fact. I know that man evolved from older, ape like ancestors, I've seen the evidence, the DNA experiments first hand, held the actual skull of a homo erectus, been on digs, compared a lot of hard, physical evidence, (You can do that too by going to an accredited University) and I know human evolution is a fact. My ethics come from the philosophy of secular humanism and rational skepticism. Now go look those things up and become educated.

I believe in science. And if you look at most religions, you will see there is a basic moral code throughout all of them. I follow those codes. I treat people how I wish to be treated. I help people out if they are in need.

Athiests aren't bad people with no morals. We have morals and values just like everyone else in this world, we just happen to believe that there is no such thing as a god. Science explains how we were created, how the universe was created, and why everything happens the way it happens.

Humans do not need a written set of rules to follow. We treat people with respect and we follow the standards which allow people to get along together.

There is no set of beliefs shared by all atheists other than not believing in god. They follow the same social rules and practice the same ethical behavior as everyone else.

In fact, they appear to do it better than theists, since there are almost no atheists in jail or prison (which are full of criminal ‘believers’).

How interesting since: (arrogance + ignorance + power) is the definition of the political and religious conservative leadership that is destroying America.

I'm an atheist and I just try to be decent. I don't go around stealing, looting, raping or whatever. In the bus, I offer my seat to old ladies. I try to help my fellow-human beings if I can. I don't think there exists an external metaphysical system of ethics. We will have to make the best of it.

We don't "believe" in anything.
We evaluate the world around us rationally, logically, and through reason -- using evidence to determine what's likely correct and what isn't.

We don't need a mythical made-up magic sky-guy to tell us how to be good people, we can figure it out for ourselves. These are *societal* rules, not magical god rules. It's really simple: work hard, take care of your family and friends, don't hurt anybody, don't do anything you wouldn't want done to you (and no, the bible was NOT the first to write the "golden rule"). Easy :)

Speaking only for myself, I believe that there are no supernatural deities. I see no evidence for any of them, and plenty against.

As for ethics, it generally comes down to the question of who is harmed. If nobody is harmed or at an unreasonable risk of harm, then go for it.

I believe in science, and the power of the human mind.

Equality, compassion, respect, logic, moral reasoning, progress, justice, all that good stuff.

Don't do unto others what you don't want them to do unto you.

I look inside myself for what is good, wholesome, and right. I don't have to live a certain way because of fear or religious support. I can do that alllllll by my little self.

We dont believe in god or any supernatural rubbish.

Ethics comes from common sense - not in the bible since i think its wrong for parents to sell their kids in to slavery or have them stoned to death for disrespect but thats what the bible says.

Besides if the only reason you're a good person is to appease god you're a pretty sorry excuse for a human being, arent you?

Generally speaking, the same ones you do.
God doesn't enforce our laws: We do.
Murderers are caught and punished because we catch them and punish them, not god.
Most people, no matter what their society/culture/religion will agree on a similar group of things that any society simply cannot tolerate and be successful: Murder, theft, etc....
I'm guessing that only the minutia, as dictated by your particular religious dogma, would seperate your thinking from mine.
