Valtrex is a successful and often prescribed antiviral prescription drug that is used to control genital herpes Although Valtrex cannot cure herpes it will help with reducing the symptoms.
The anitivral drug works cuts down on the growth of the virus which drastically minimizes the spread of the virus in your body. It's important to know that it will not prevent it from being spread to someone else so precautions are necessary. It can be a trial to live with genital herpes.
Expect to have to deal with many problems, both physical and emotional. When you first contract the disease it will seem as if it is taking over your whole existence. Remember that there are presciption medications for herpes such as Valtex that will make life easier for you.
It should be taken immediately when the first burning and tingling appears. Don't wait for the blisters to show up.

People who have a disease such as HIV or Aids or any condition that may weaken the immune system should definitely consult their doctor before taking Valtrex.
Generic Valtrex - Valacyclovir
o Generic Valtrex (Valcyclovir) will do the same job as Valtrex and will most certainly help to make living with herpes that little bit more comfortable, and do it at a substantially cost.
Reducing the outbreaks and lowering the symptoms of the herpes virus will enable you to carry on living a normal life again.
Simply by taking common sense precautions you will be able to help fight the spread of the virus and have a normal and active sex life.

According to their website, there aren't any studies that prove that Valtrex works after a cold sore appears. I would think it's worth a shot, just make sure you follow their recommendations of take only one pill a day.

I googled how to get rid of a cold sore and cold sore remedies to see if there's a quick way to get rid of one, but the amount of tips were a little overwhelming, so I posted some websites for you to check out. I did think this was really interesting:
"As soon as you feel a cold sore emerging, rub an ice cube over the area for ten minutes three times a day, suggests Agatha Thrash, M.D., a medical pathologist and co-founder and co-director of Uchee Pines Institute, a natural healing center in Seale, Alabama. If you treat the cold sore early on, you may be able to prevent it from erupting, according to Dr. Thrash."

Try not to touch it, or use a q-tip, and don't use vaseline or something across your lips or around your lips when you have a sore since that might spread it. And throw out your toothbrush, chapsticks, etc. after you get one to avoid reinfection. And don't feel bad. According to these websites, most people are infected with the virus that causes cold sores. It's just that a certain number of people have symptoms.
Some of the recommendations I found include natural remedies, otc products as well as presciption medicines. If you decide to try an over-the-counter product, try reading reviews at places like amazon and eopinions.com to help you make a decision. I hope this was helpful. Good luck.

Mine has already appeared, but I want it to go away! Does anyone have any experience where it has worked?

It's a toss up. It can help get it under control a little bit faster so it won't be an active sore for 2 weeks or whatever, but since you already have the sore, you have to wait for it to heal as your body normally would, which will take about a week anyway.
