Should do. Nearly every PC in Thailand uses an illegal copy of Windows.....you just cant get updates thats all.

it should work already but you cannot access 'Windows Update' and you will have a nice little nag screen to remind you your a thief :-) If you enter a legitimate key then you do not need to reinstall, this can be done via a program called 'MagicJellybean'
or are you telling it its a legitimate copy of XP that is wrongly assuming it is hooky? if so them a reinstall will correct this issue

yes it will work and all you have to do to keep it working is disable automatic updates, the down side to that is your pc is open to others because you won't have any secuirty updates on it, but if you dont have ne personal information ie credit card, bank details then just carry on doing it.
there is a little prog called key changer, which detects your windows serial that you put in at installation, and allows you to enter another serial albeit you need to know that it is a genuine serial. email me at Stormin_85@hotmail.com i can send you it, and other info that is required for it to work ok, nearly forgot with this key changer and serial you can get updates, even tho i have recovery disc with xp home on it, i tried it on a friends pc it works no problem

format C then reinstall windows XP Pro. should work perfectly fine

I've got similar and i've reformatted loads of times without problems. However, as far as i know you can't use the service pack 2 version, cos my dad bought and i tried to use it and it only gave me 30 days without registering it. However i managed to upgrade my copy of windows xp pro by going to pc world and they gave me a free upgrade disc.

i have had 1 on ages just click box off everytime it coming up telling you ilegal my hubby knows how to stop it coming up but i dont but you can still run that windows ways round it
