tarantulas the local natives inthe amazon consider them a delicacy otherwise if in an african forest locusts, grasshoppers or mopani worms - ants anywhere too animals would say turtles or tortoises depending where you are easier to catch.

I'd stay away from insects and reptiles because it would be difficult and nearly impossible to tell what was poisonous and what wasn't.
Small mammals and birds would probably be best if you could catch them.
