Just curious!

For me...

Italian, dark brown hair, dark eyes, average weight (body isn't much of a concern for me, as long as they're not over-weight) around 5 ft 7 is a good height.

Personality- CAN MAKE ME LAUGH (which isn't hard to do!), fun, caring, sincere, honest, trustworthy, passionate about something (i.e. his job, music, dogs, etc...), good around the house... I could go on...

I already have my ideal partner... my wife! That said, if I could improve anything on her it would be comfidence in herself. She is a self-doubter and needs to regain that edge she had before the kids came along.

You know, I'm 39 years old and have been through the dating scene for a long time. I have also been married. I am no expert, but I can tell you, sometimes when you have an idealistic picture in your head of what you want from someone, sometimes when you are faced with it, you wonder what where you thinking.

I can tell you, when I was younger, I had an ideal look, personality, etc....I believe you have to be attracted to that person, but it has to be both physically and mentally. Mental attraction will eventually rule because it is what you have that mentally connects the two of you....Meaning; it is important to be on the same wave length with someone. It doesn't mean you have to be identical, it is just the fundamentals have to add up.

My former marriage, my ex-husband was tall (which I happen to like), Italian and a tradionalist. Guess what, what I thought was ideal really wasn't...we were on opposite ends of the spectrum about 100% of the time. Because, when you are living with someone - their idealisms tend to rule certain things...and you realize that what you thought you had in common, really didn't exist.

Moving forward, after having dated a lot of people and being in relationships, I can tell you that my ideal perfect partner would have to be - physically - like a renaissance man, tall, dark hair, a little long (but not too long), keeps himself in shape (but doesn't have to be a body builder). Personality wise - Has to have an amazing personality; loves to laugh, is very relaxed, but not too relaxed; knows how to unwind, takes life with a grain of salt, is very creative (usually the creative ones make very good partners), but most importantly share my feelings and thoughts.

If I could have any man on the planet (besides the wonderful man I'm already with), I'd go with an actor by the name of Joe Flanigan. He is the physical embodiment of my personal tastes.

Personality wise, I like some who is funny, self-deprecating in a fun way, very honest to the point of being blunt, faithful, truly willing to work through any hardship, a little stubborn, playful, steadfast in his resolve but open-minded to new ideas.

And he has to cook.

Fortunately, I've found that. :)

EDIT: I see someone let the tards out today.

Physically, she's fit and has meat on her bones - no anorexics, and no couch potatoes with cream cheese on the thighs. Long brunette hair and prefers t-shirts, tights and sneakers, not miniskirts or high heels. Gabby Reece would be a good example. No smokers (not even ex-smokers) and drug users (including marijuana) need a slap upside the head.

Mentally, she's educated, independent and has her own ideas and ambitions, not looking for "prince charming". She wants an equal partner, not a master or a slave (I don't abuse or like being abused). And she's an atheist, agnostic, buddhist or daoist; I don't believe in fairy tales and neither will she. Why get involved with someone who thinks nonsense that causes terrorism?

I don't think that there is a such thing as a perfect partner. But I like a man that is a relatively good physical shape, he must have a nice beard or a least wear a goatee. I am rather short, so I like him to be at least a few inches taller than I and he must be funny, articulate, gainfully employed and last but not least he must know how to treat a woman.

My description of a perfect mate would be someone who could make me laugh and who I had fun being with. Someone who might be playful but is fully capable of having an intellectual conversation and questions life and the world around him and is not afraid to take risks. Someone who is dedicated and pursues their dreams, is creative and finds way to express it. Someone who is giving and supportive as well as secure and will not allow themselves to be walked all over and taken advantage of. Someone who is affectionate but not too needy and who is not looking for a relationship out of necessity but because they too, enjoy the other's company and appreciate and accept them for who they are. Someone who does not try to control me and my actions and who is not jealous and who realizes that in order for us to grow together there must be times where we spend our time apart. Someone who is physically appealing to the extent that the relationship can transcend beyond that of being platonic (I don't need a Brad Pitt but someone who does catch my eye) and who does not try to be something they are not. Someone who is able to communicate any problems without the need to verbally or physically bash the other and who is responsible enough to know the difference between what's important in certain circumstances and what is not...

I guess what I am looking for is balance. There is no set expectation or image of perfect because flaws are something that everyone has and when you love someone, you can accept and appreciate them as being part of the entire wonderful package
