I guess because it is traditional to tip some professions. However, at your discretion you can tip anyone you like. Sorry didn't read your whole question. I guess I never really thought about it before, but I never use those carts anyway.

Well I can say honestly I don't know what other peoples wages r n because I don't travel I wouldn't know u had to tip that person unless I seen someone else do it.1 thing I do know is a waitress gets tips becuz they don't even get minimum wage most of the time so the tips r to make up for not getting minimum wage and u r to even claim your tips for some government purposes as well.I would say for someone at that age working and getting minimum wage is pretty lucky .If he gets tips thats a bonus but also remember he is getting paid for his work already.I do know u tip someone who carrys your luggage or at the hotels the same thing but have never heard of a person driver in an airport is suppose to but u learn something new everyday n I guess this is 1.Have a wonderful day.

In boston, at least, I would be inclined to not tip workers at logan airport. Parking attendants alone, make $50,000 a year, with no training or education.

It may be news like this that makes people think that airport workers are not low wage workers.

Also, service industry job, where tipping is customary, the minimum wage is far less than the standard, or their salary isn't based off of an hourly rate.

In any case, If you're working at 72, I'd blame it on social security.

Fist off i understand many waiters/ waitresses and none get an hourly of two.thirteen, they get like 5.00 and a few even get 7.00 plus counsel. Secondly i'm a conservative and that i tip nicely. frequently 20% yet wen it comes out to alter I continually around up so its frequently extra desirable than 20%. And if its a small bill I tip plenty, not basically 20%. I tip the barber, nail human beings when I pay for my GF nails, the bartenders, every physique. the only time I actual have ever tipped undesirable is when I had fairly undesirable provider. so your line of thinking purely isnt working right here.

Many jobs do not have standardized tipping, and people are just not accustomed to it. I am sure the odd person would, but most probably will not. I never get tipped at my job either.
You have to remember that people that you drive around have no idea what your wage is, who you work for, or what is expected of them. Not to mention if you are at an airport, you get people from many countries where tipping is not done, and sometimes seen as an insult.
If you want to make it obvious, put out a little tip jar. but never expect a tip, just be appreciative if you get one.

Sad to say Frank but most people moving thru airports today are the pampered self centered rich children of the wealthy . Not many in USA today know what it means either to really work or to know hardship. These are people who ask first, second and third "What's in it for me?" Nothing in it for them to tip you; they'll never see you again so why would you expect them to care about you?

I traveled for 30 years before retiring last year. 99% of the passengers I saw in airport carts were people who were too fat or too lazy to walk on their own. So guys like you drove them and beeped everybody else out of their way on the concourses. What would you expect of someone too fat and lazy to do their own walking; nothing except maybe some complaints.

Tips are for people who make below minimum wage, like waiters. Besides, I'm not sure what sort of thing you're talking about, but I can't say I've ever ridden on one in an airport.

Most people assume any airline workers are getting paid great due to the sheer cost of airline tickets. The great thing about America -- if you don't like your job or how you get paid, you can quit. And if that job is really terrible, no one will take it until the employer makes a better offer.

In some cases, people don't tip because they will never see that person again, as opposed to a restaurant where people may be regulars.
