Everything is not possible. Jesus paid the penalty for sin. If there were only 2 people on earth the best one could hope for would be to witness about the love of God to the other and even to give up their natural life so that the other might live longer, but to make a spiritual payment for another was completed in full and perfectly on the cross.

As much as I love my mother I have to confess that I wouldn't trade my eternity with God for an eternity of Hell. I would gladly give my earthly life for my mother if it meant her salvation but not my eternal existence. Sorry Mom....
As for spending only 5 years in Hell, I don't know how terrible it would be since one of the worst things about Hell in my mind is the reality that there is no hope forever and ever. So I like to think that if it was only 5 years that I would be willing to do that for my Mother or really for anyone else on this planet who would otherwise spend all eternity there.

Well, of COURSE we would do anything for dear old Mom! But wait a minute, why did she NOT merit the heaven that we did? There are Moms and there are "Moms". The Mom you would risk an intense but finite torture for is likely the Mom who would more plausibly be burning for YOU. If she's otherwise hellbound, chances are you'd be able to appreciate the reasons and wouldn't want to make a deal. Family ties can be stranglingly strong, but do you really think you would question the judgment of God?
You know, this is the reason Catholics invented purgatory...

Have you not considered the fact that God does not have to save ANYONE, the entire human race stands condemned before him anyway. What the Lord does is completely righteous, and we have nothing to say since nothing we do would merit heaven. Your scenario includes a hidden agenda of exactly that, merits being applied to others in order to "earn" their salvation. If you want an answer that will cater to your position, perhaps the Catholic Church might be able to interest you in some indulgences.

Well... How can God be so unjust to us.. ? The fact is... A person will he held responsible only for the things he or she did in his lifetime.. not for anyone else's. But if i agree with you only for the sake of arguement.. that what would i choose... i will let the God decide and I believe in Allah... The Almighty God.. whatever He will choose for me.. i shall follow it without any regret.. :) even i have to stand on opne foot in hell for 10 yrs... but i believe in God.. this won't happen .. May Allah, the Almighty God, send me and my mother as well as all i know... to Heaven.

I lost my mother several years ago to cancer. She is in hell. She is in the Bible hell. It is the common grave of mankind. It is the place we go when we die. It is the place Jesus himself went when he died. You may read this for yourself at Acts 2:24, 27, and 31.
Since Ecclesiastes 9:5 plainly says that the dead are conscious of nothing at all, it is impossible for the dead to feel anything - much less torment and agony. Since Jesus likened death to sleep in the account at John 11:1-44; and since that same account - wherein the resurrection of his friend Lazarus is described - Lazarus makes no mention whatsoever of torment, anguish, pain, agony, etc. - I am confident that my mother is merely sleeping. She is awaiting a resurrection. This agrees with the statement of Lazarus' sister, Martha, who said in verse 24 that she knew her brother would rise in the resurrection on the last day.
Hence, my mother is sleeping and awaiting a resurrection. I do not qualify for heavenly life so I will not be going there anyway. I only need to remain faithful, obedient and hold fast to my integrity so that when she is resurrected, I will be here to greet her. Unless of course I die before Armageddon. In which case, the both of us will have to be resurrected.

I would probably stand in Hell for five years. Heaven is nice and all, but if I didn't have the people that I loved most with me, I don't think it would be as good as it could be.

If Mom is going to hell for something she did, that's on her. Uh-uh, I ain't gonna burn for that.
Actually, my Mom did abuse me. So I can relate to this. No, let Mom roast. Bye bye Mommy! I will still love you! But you reap what you have sewn!
If G-d lets me, I'll send Mom a fan. Do they have electrical outlets that work, there in hell? Anyone know? Knowing some of these power companies, they probably do.

What is even more probable than possible is for God to need anything. What I find so fascinating is all the people here that think they know what God is up to.

Would any amount years matter? The spiritual life knows no time frame, seconds are ten thousands of years. Change places is correct.
