My son just turned five. Two weeks ago he had pain in his right testicle. The pain got so bad he laid in bed crying and would not walk because it hurt to bad. I took him to the doctor and he said the right testicle was smaller, softer, and more tissuey than the left. Then he went on to say he might have sat on a toy wrong and that is why he was hurting. Tuesday he went for his five year check up and they found blood in his urine. They gave me a specimen cup to take home. They instructed me that in a week have him urinate in the cup first thing in the morning and bring it into them. Could the two problems be related somehow? I am worried, any advice on what causes blood in his urine would be appriciated.

My mum had this a few months ago.. She got bad backache also... It could be kidney stones or a urine infection... Make sure he drinks plenty of water or cranberry juice, its apparently meant to be good for that kind of thing..also keep tabs on how often he's going to the toilet as i think having a water infection people go to the toilet less..google search it, it will come up with all the symptoms and stuff to help get rid =]

Yes, these two things are probably related. Although, I can't say that I think that sitting on a toy would have caused his testicle to change shape and texture. If you are really worried about it, take your son to a urologist. Ask your doctor to refer you if you have an HMO insurance. If you have a PPO, I would go ahead and take him in. If nothing else, it'll ease your mind.
