Absolutely. The nerves in the root of your tooth can get infected and cause migraines. I had this about 6 months ago. I had to have a root canal but at least I dont have the headache anymore.

They can trigger certain nerves that can lead up to a migraine. However they are not the underlying cause. A migraine is essentially the dilation of blood vessels in your brain - usually in one particular area. I get them on my left side. In basic terms it is basically too much blood going to your brain which is usually caused by nerves that are usually irritated by different things - including but not limited to dental problems. This is why the best treatment for a migraine is a vasconstrictor such as Imitrex which constricts those vessels.

Altho dental problems can cause severe pain and infection leading even to death ,they do not normally cause true migraine headaches since the serotonins that cause the dilation of meningeal vessels are not connected to the teeth . However stress can be a component of migraine and if your oral problems cause you frequent anxiety and suffering then I could see a connection . The point is ,if your oral problems are that bad you need to get them attended to whether they affect your headaches or not

Migraine Headaches are typically from a change in the dilation and constriction of the blood vessels in the brain, as well as chemical irritation to nerve centers that perceive pain. There is a lot if correlation to tightness in the musculature at the base of the head that triggers stress responses by the brain, making migraines worse. You may want to be checked by a chiropractor to see if the bone of the neck are adding to the migraines. Chiropractic may not help get rid of all of your migraines, but it can help in reducing the frequency and intensity.
