The best version-and correct version- is the original in the Arabic.

Having said this, I will say that I do not speak Arabic, so have gone to an English translation that many have said is the best. It is the translation by Abdullah Yusef Ali. There is also a companion book that explains the Qur'an, by the same author. It is called, ''The Meaning of the Holy Qur'an''.

As these are books that will take you much time and study, I would advise that you get your own copies, instead of going to the library. You can order both from Amazon.com.

There is no better edition to the Quran.

They are all the same.

But you need to buy one with a good translation and some commentaries on each individual verse and to the reasons of its revealance.

Unfortunately, not a single english translation of the quran has been without errors and omissions and its own small faults.

Therefore you are advised to learn Arabic and read some of its history to know better the language.

The following translations are amongst the best done, albeit with some minor errors and misunderstandings.

Pickthall, A. Yusuf Ali, Asad and Irving, Arberry.

That is very Good that you want to purchase a copy of Quran.
.
Quran has does not have any editions. It is only one book, used by Muslims and non-Muslims everywhere in the world.
.
If you want an English translation of the Quran, I would recommend you the one by Yusuf Ali, because it is a little easier translation than others.
.
Again, the Quran does not have any editions, unlikely other religious books.
.
Peace be with you

They're all the same in Arabic, but there are different translations.

I'd recommend the translation by Dr Muhammad Muhsin Khan by Darussalam publishers.

ISBN 9960-740-79-X

This edition has some grammatical errors, so watch out. Buy the latest version if possible. And if you have any doubt, just compare it with these translations by three other translators:

the guy above me is partially incorrect...it has to be Arabic, not Aramaic. its gotta be in the original arabic text...if it is changed in any way than it has been adulterated by man...even good-intentioned translators cannot claim to have rewroteh the qur'an in another language...it is instead just a human perspective of the qur'an

Koran has appreciated people who listen to every thing (every different opinion) and choose the best one (they don't just accept what they are told). exactly what you're doing.

You have to read it in the original Arabic. Sorry.

Well according to Islamic teachings you can not have the Quran unless it is in Aramaic.

Otherwise it ceases to be the Quran.
