I am looking for a small program where I can input text, and it will generate a list in alphabetical order. The smaller the program is, the better use I will get out of it. The only thing I can seem to find is Microsoft Word, but I don't want that. Can anyone help?

Do you want something that will just take a text file and sort it?

If so, there's a program that comes with Windows called sort.

Go to the Start Menu, select Run..., and type "cmd" and hit enter to get to a DOS prompt.

Then type "sort /? | more" to see the options for the sort command.

To actually sort a file, you need to make sure it's saved in a text format (ends in .TXT and opens in NotePad).

Then you can use the sort command like this:

C:\> sort original.txt /o sorted.txt

Excel will do it too if it's stored as a text file. You'd have to open it in Excel, click on the first column (A), go to the Data menu, and select Sort... Then just save it back as a text file.

Microsoft Excel or a Spreadsheets program will probably help.
