The Bible does not speak specifically about gambling.

However, by inference the Bible does say that gambling may be a sin.

If you are not a good steward with what God has given you then you are sinning.

You can gamble and not sin. You just have to set limits and use it only for entertainment. Put it as part of yoru entertainment budget.

The Bible does not list gambling as a sin. Theology has condemned it for two reasons:
a) It is an attempt to get something for nothing - coveting 1 mil. for a 1 lotto ticket.
b) It is unfair, playing to the poor who have more to lose while the rich know the con - robbery.

I can't remember who was the Prophet who wrote it ( and don't forget that Bible's semantics talk mostly in symbol-way). In Old Testament it's said more or less that "they will gamble His tunic at dice". And in the New, in Golgota, it's described how roman soldiers, Longinos and the others, do gamble the tunic at dice while the Christ is in the Cross. Don't have a Bible at hand, but in my mind that __ coincidence? remains quite clear.
I think it's easy to interpret with that cruel sequence(s) that gambling when or while others suffer is anathema in Bible. It's shown like 'looking away'. Twice.

its not so much that its in the bible but the priciples behind it. when you gamble someone is a loser, and some of these losers ruin there lives over it trying to make up the loss, it can become addicting. gambling is also a get rich quick scheme where people lust for the quick win, which is not the way to solve any problems, besides that if you end up losing it makes it worse. could you do it just for fun, i suppose, but the majority cant really.

I am unfortunately unable to point out specifics in the Bible, but my Christian husband (I'm a heathen) likes to say that gambling is only a sin if you lose, a sacrement if you then donate 10% of your winnings to the church.

He's a bit odd.

It is not specifically spelled out, but many use this scripture to condemn gambling:

“The love of money is a root of all sorts of injurious things, and by reaching out for this love some have been led astray from the faith and have stabbed themselves all over with many pains.”—1 Timothy 6:10.

THEY DON'T CALL LAS VEGAS "SIN CITY" FOR NOTHING! It doesn't say in the Bible about gambling per say. But if you have sincerely accepted Jesus Christ into your life you are "born of the Holy Spirit" (the Holy Spirit dwelling inside you) to consciously help guide or convict you as to what is the lie and what is the truth, what is sinful and what isn't, you would already know that if you were gambling for self gratification or for profit, that's a form of "self-centerdness" (pride of self), and that my friend IS a sin. Jesus preached in his Gospel about The Parable of the Great Banquet in Luke 14:21 to feed "the poor, the crippled, the blind, the lame". Do you honestly think God would want anyone to throw away money that could be used to help someone in need, showing compassion for their fellow man. To let them know that God loves them and wants to help them. Even if you say you're going to try to win money to help someone in need doesn't justify the fact that you're partaking in an activity that condones your loss and their (the house) gain and could lead to a severe gambling addiction that will ultimately destroy you. So is gambling is bad. An emphatic YES!

It does not say that gambling is bad.

Addiction to gambling would be wrong like any other addiction.

Peace!

Jesus got angry at the money changers. Roman guards drew lots for his garments. On this, Baptists and other fundamentalists made a big sin out of gambling.

Only one mention is made of gambling in the entirety of the Christian Bible.

The roman soldiers cast lots for Jesus's tunic because it was without seam.
