not recommended for the first 2-3 weeks. it will peel. may get infected. keep lubricated with vitamin A&D ointment.

I personally wouldnt, because even though water may look crystal clear it still may be infectious. Your tattoo is peeling thats a good thing....give it another few days and hop in that water. Other then that you not even suppose to wash it after you get it done. I never washed the part i had a tattoo done for a whole week, just in case.

How to care for your tattoo

The life of your new tattoo is dependent upon the care it receives within the first few days.... it takes about two weeks to heal, and two more weeks to settle in.

Keep your new tattoo bandaged for the first hour. Remove bandage and wash tattoo gently with cool, and soapy water. Rinse thoroughly, lightly pat dry with a clean towel.

DO NOT re-bandage your tattoo.

DO NOT use vaseline or petroleum jelly.

DO NOT use alcohol or peroxide.

DO NOT pick or scratch tattoo.

DO NOT soak tattoo in shower or tub - get in, get clean, get out!

Stay our of pools, hot tubs and oceans for two weeks.

Keep tattoo out of direct sunlight and tanning beds.

With clean hands, apply thin layer of ointment such as A&D, Help It, Neosporin or Bacitracin 2 to 3 times a day for 4-5 days, after that switch to a good lotion.

Do not over lubricate your tattoo, however, don't let it dry out either. Should any seepage occur, gently dab off excess with a clean paper towel.

If a rash occurs (bumps on or around the tattoo as with allergic reaction) or redness persists, discontinue use and call your artist for suggestions or product alternatives.

No. You cannot go swimming until it's completely healed. Not only can you not submerge a fresh tattoo in any water for too long, why would you want to put it in a salty body of water where there's tons of crap (literally) and garbage in it?

Wait until it's completely healed, and if you do go to the beach, remember to put sunscreen on it (also when it's healed). This will prevent fading over time.

unless you want to risk your tattoo looking looking like ****, i wouldn't do it!

seriously, abstain from soaking your tattoo in water (swimming, baths, etc) for AT THE VERY LEAST 2 weeks. it'll fade your tattoo. not to mention - after only 4 days, it's still an open wound. you want to keep it clean - that means, only clean and loose clothing, wash your hands before you touch it, don't let anyone else touch it, etc.

follow the aftercare instructions carefully if you want your new tattoo to look its best for years to come! if your artist didn't give you proper aftercare instructions, you can google and find a bunch online. and, get a new artist while you're at it - they should be telling you all this stuff!

I would assume the salt will eat away at the ink, it wont disappear, but it will fade.
It's pealing because salt absrbes moisture, and it's sucking all the moisture out of your skin. Put lotion on it three times a day, and go back to the tattoo care instructions

it doesnt matter if the water is distiller and sterilised, it will affect the healing process. Wait three weeks until it has properly healed. although the surface might seem healed the inside of the skin can take upto a month to be fully healed. also you risk getting nasty bacteria etc in it so just be safe and stay away.

Personally, I would be more concerned with all of the tiny sand particles flying around. I don't think that the water would be that much of a issue. Just wash with fresh water and mild soap when you get out. Don't forget to apply moisturizer.

you aren't supposed to go swimming for a couple of weeks after getting a tattoo didn't the tattoo artist tell you about swimming and sun protection when you got your tattoo?

No you can not you need to wait till your tattoo is completely healed . I want you to just think about the ocean andall the living things in it that use it as a potty. You don't want whale sperm in your tattoo do you? NO!
