Bless Parents Who Drugged Us!
The other day, someone at a store in our town read that a methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farmhouse in the adjoining county and he asked me a rhetorical question, ''Why didn't we have a drug problem when you and I were growing up?''
I replied: I had a drug problem when I was young:
I was drug to church on Sunday morning. I was drug to church for weddings and funerals
I was drug to family reunions and community socials no matter the weather.
I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults.
I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents,told a lie, brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or the preacher, or if I didn't put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me.
I was drug to the kitchen sink to have my mouth washed out with soap if I uttered a profane four-letter word.
I was drug out to pull weeds in mom's garden and flower beds and cockleburs out of dad's fields.
I was drug to the homes of family, friends, and neighbors to help out some poor soul who had no one to mow the yard, repair the clothesline, or chop some firewood; and, if my mother had ever known that I took a single dime as a tip for this kindness, she would have drug me back to the woodshed.
Those drugs are still in my veins; and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say, and think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack, or heroin; and, if today's children had this kind of drug problem, America would be a better place.

no offence ment to any one under 25 ... I know that some younger rember such disapline from their parents but about 20-25 years ago is when the big push came to change our ways of raising our kids.

I know you said parents over 25 and Im 23 but that is exactly what my Dad did to me and I think that most people are too afraid to do that to their kids now a days and its a shame. My kids know what a good spanking is and they know Wednesday and Sunday are for church and family and they are only 4 and 2.

Ha Ha that's cute, and so true. My parents used to *Gasp* spank us in public. But it wasn't just a whack on the bum. We knew we were in trouble when told to, "Bend over and touch your toes." in the middle of the supermarket. That was more embarrassing than painful, so we usually watched our P's and Q's. That's all kids need is a little discipline now a days, to know that there is a consequence to their actions. BTW, I'm just getting ready to turn 26.

It appears like they're only attempting to emphasise their hand. each and every from time to time father and mom have a tendency to over step boundries even as their little ones grow old... reason "drama", because it is far they could be able to tutor they're nonetheless in value. the perfect component to do is to save a low profile, per chance attempt to communicate it. Definately get your ducks in a row and get out once you could.

I can relate to that even tho I am 24. I think that how are are now is because of all the "drugs" we had to endure when were were young.

I love the "author unknown" but let's face it drugs were around when we were kids - every generation has their drug or choice - I have never done drugs - maybe because I too was "drug around" but in my day it was pot and acid.

i agree completely....that's how i was raised and my son's life won't be much different.
i think some parents are too worried that their kids won't love them, so they let the kid walk all over them....
parents need to realize that there's a middle path. you can nip your kid in line and they will still love you, b/c you are showing your love by forming them into a good person.

Amen sister, and just so you know....some parents out there ARE still teaching their children manners, and make them write thank-you notes, and be respectful...

I can totally relate! To every one of those!!!!! I am offended however that you said only those over 25. Im almost 21 and my parents and grandparents did all of those things to us and i intend to with my baby as well.

yes yes i can relate to thoes drug problems i am 35 and i drug my kids all the time but i learned this from my parents who use to drug us also ....
