Hi ,sorry to ear you're not well.
I'm not bipolar but I have known some people who were on Lithium and they functioned normally.. its a v difficult condition and all I could say is perhaps see a clinical pyscologist to help u with the reactive depression that having this condition is causin u.. cognitive therapy can help u with coping methods.
Personally I dont think people with bipolar or any illness, are different and I admire your integrity and courage for telling people straight about your condition.
If someone says bye bye cos of your condition they're not worth it and keep the faith u will meet someone in time.
Meanwhile there are organisations that hold group meetings like AWARE and so on, a support group might be good.
I think www.psycom.net/depression.central.bipolar.html
is a useful link..
The very best wishes, keep the faith and thoughts and prayers from Ireland to u mate

In answer to your questions, let me start out by saying that I have had bipolar disorder for approximately 25 years, and on medications for much of that time.
1. Yes, I am still alive - and well - most of the time. Having bipolar does not preclude you from living a happy, healthy, well-balanced lifestyle. You're still a human being, with wants, needs, hopes, and aspiratioins.
2. I am incredibly happy with my new way of living. Actually, it's my old way of living as I have been on meds for most of the 25 years I have had bipolar. Going back to the way things were without meds is not an option. To be without the medications is to not live a whole life, but to be caught up in a tumultuous life of never-ending ups and downs.
3. I have a job and a family. Not something I always thought I would have. Once I learned that I could live beyond my diagnosis, my life took off. Learn to realize that the diagnosis is only a guiding tool to how to treat your illness - the rest is up to you.
4. It can be difficult to be diagnosed with bipolar, but I do not believe that doctors do it just for the sake of the people around us. They are guided by the principal that they are to help. While it may seem at times, that having this diagnosis has done more harm than good, in the long run it can help. It has taught me what to expect day to day, how to cope with events which may or may not trigger my illness. Mainly though, I have learned that I am as "normal" as the next person - only that I may be a little more affected by stress and life events than others. It has also served as a guiding tool for my family - they know what it looks like when I am not well, and they know how to help me when the crunch hits. They have also learned that just because I am having a bad day, that it doesn't mean that I'm unwell.
Don't let the diagnosis of bipolar determine your life's course. Grasp it head on, and keep on going no matter what. Live, learn, love - all are possible no matter what the diagnosis.

Hey I've lived with being bipolar for 19 years and yes,I'm still alive and doing pretty well from day to day,I've been on Lithium before and had ti get off of it for it maqde me extremely sick, and I've been on many different ones, now I'm on Cymbalta and I have no problems.I'm disabled not due to bipolar but to a terrible car accident,by a drunk driver that has lfet me partially paralyzed on the left side.Yes I have a beautiful family of three pre-teen boys and I wouldn't take anything for them.I don't see a shrik either,to me its a waste of money and I've come up with a cheaper remedy get yourself a notebook and write anything that's on your mind no matter how stuipd you may think it is,it works for me and it may work for you.Well honey about woman if that can't take you for the person who you are, then you don't need them believe me their are alot of critics out there and they do look at us funny, but hey to me I say to them we're just a little more special for God made us with more time and love and we are here for a perticular reason, and only know why.Well darling I hope you all the best in life and with your journey, but if you ever need a friend to talk with,I'll be more than happy to listenI'm always home.God Bless you..

My best friend Lucy is bipolar. She was flitting from job to job and boyfriend to boyfriend and even city to city. She ended up being sectioned under the mental health act after she joined a bell ringing sales cult in Liverpool (don't ask!). After she was put on lithium (about 11 years ago) she went back to university and studied biology then genetics and did her thesis on bone genetics. She is now working for the cure for cancer and owns her own house, car and cat and is very very happy - yes your life can be normal again!

Your correct that you'll locate who you want, notwithstanding it is your Dad's abode, and he has administration over who comes over. You stated you're acquaintances, so keep it that way. even if he's bi polar is irrelevant. From my own reports, bi polar would properly be violent (Erika...get out now...) or no longer (my chum is this kind with medicine). seem for indicators like: quick mood adjustments, chuffed one minute, indignant the subsequent. Illogical reasoning...drawing conclusions from skinny air. Distrustful or confident that you'll go away continuously sorry for undesirable habit, (i turned right into a fool...i am going to not in any respect attempt this lower back...you deserve extra effective...) yet not in any respect stops the habit seems or makes suicidal statements in case you ever "left" seems to have twin personalities at cases. proficient at manipulating perceptions And maximum major, can make you experience like a horrid man or woman. everybody has subject matters, and the signal someone is okay is they could artwork with the help of them and settle on them. those who won't be able to or do not want help you're unable to provide.

I have bipolar disorder. I take Tegretol and Risperdol. I am presently looking for employment. I recently got married.
I trust Jesus to bring me through the depression. It's going to take a special woman to understand your disorder and loves you no matter what happens. I see a doctor monthly for him to perscribe the medication I need to stay stable. I'm sure in time you'll make new friends.
