What is used to cover the curved part of the arch-way before the dry wall compound is put on? Can you use the bullnose edges on the arch way?

Use a flexible corner bead found at Lowe's and The Home Depot.

If it's a drywall finish, you can put drywall on the curved part of the arch. Use thinner material - I think 1/4 inch thick, instead of 1/2 inch, and bend it carefully. If you have time and space, you could try cutting a long thin piece to fit, and then lay it over a chair or sawhorse the night before so that it takes a curved shape. You could also experiment by wetting it a bit - that might soften it some, so that it curves without cracking. But that's just a guess on my part.

If you need this piece to be thicker - maybe you used 1/2 inch stock for the vertical parts on the side - then use 2 pieces of 1/4 inch drywall.

Well ya know how they have the metal strips for the edges after the drywall is hung?? They make ones that are bendable metal it's cut out squares but attached kinda hard to explain what it looks like though. So use that go to your Home Depot or Lowes to check it out.
