No human ruler or government will ever be able to bring about world peace. Only God's righteous heavenly government will bring peace and security to the earth.
Political leaders will never be able to bring an end to wars, poverty, hunger, crime, sickness, or death. God promises to do away with all those things and many more.
Soon, the whole earth will become a global paradise, just as God purposed in the beginning. There will be no more terrorism or crime of any kind. Food shortages, sickness, fear and even death itself will be gone forever.
We can be assured that soon our loving Creator will fulfill this promise found at Psalm 37:9-11--
"For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace."

Everyone would say they want world peace, but apparently no one wants it more than they want wealth or power. I think you could count on one hand the people in the world who truly are working for world peace.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is one I'm well familiar with... he desperately wants to see all sentient beings free from suffering! The "barrier" is that the solution to war, anger, hatred, etc. is altruism and personal responsibility... those are difficult things for some to cultivate and so it's a barrier.

No; politicians work for political gain, at least in the US. There is no "morality" in the government.

I suspect there are people that are currently for (dedicated) to world peace. However, they have to be willing to die for it. Are they willing to do that?
