1) Uninstall any software you son't use.
2) Delete any old files you don't need, back up others to cd or external hard drive and delete them.
3) Run Ccleaner, use the ISsues tool then the Cleaner.
http://www.ccleaner.com
4) Then defragment the hard drive from Start - programs - accessories - system tools - disc defragmenter. Leave the pc while it runs.
5) Use Winpatrol to stop all your programs loading on startup; leave Windows and your security software. The programs will still be available from the Start menu.
http://www.winpatrol.com
6) Delete any shortcut icons from the Desktop, use the Start menu instead to access your programs and files.
7) Run an anti spyware and anti adware.
http://www.ewido.net - AVG(Ewido) anti trojan.
http://www.lavasoft.com - Ad-Aware SE Personal anti adware
http://www.safer-networking.org - Spybot Search and Destroy anti spyware. Use the Teatimer settings to protect Internet Explorer, and the Immuniser to stop malware getting on your pc.
Check you have a firewall and anti virus; theres a full list on my 360 blog (click my avatar then follow the link on my profile page.
8) Install more RAM.

Obviously depends how much music you have, but if your talking quite abit then yes, i would suggest putting them all on disk, this is how you clean up the disk, click on start button, go to all programs, accessories then system tools, here you will find disk clean up, click on this a box will appear with c drive on it run it, it will then give you a list of items you could possible delete i.e. temp internet files, (this is where things from your emails go etc), it will ask you if you want to clean say yes. Then do the same movements again i.e. click start, all programs, accessories when you get to system tools you will see defragmentation click on this , then click on c drive and analyse, when finished it will tell you if you need or not to defragment your computer, this makes it work quicker... if it say to defragment then do so.

Hopes this helps anything else please ask.

how many programs are running in the background ?
each program soaks up a certain amount of memory - so if you have 5 programs running in the background - and other programs you have up and running such as - yahoo messenger, msn messenger, AIM messenger - internet browser - chat site (which will have a java applet window) - music player - music download sites/programs such as limewire, winmx etc
all those take up memory and the more stuff you have running the more memory it's going to use

if you want your pc running faster, reguraly scan it for viruses, they can sometimes slow you down badly, and make sure you update, and defragment it aswell, that can be accesed by
a/start
b/all progs
c/accesories
d/system tools
e/and then disc cleanup

that will help a little bit, and if you save alot of files and u need most of them, mabee try bying a 2gb ect. data stick, they can hold loads of music ect.. :-)

and if you want a good antivirus, use avg, just google search it :-)

Delete Temporary internet files. They should be in your internet history.
They take up loads of room.
