The company has a record of receiving cease and desist orders from the FTC and other regulatory agencies. They exhibit a pattern of disseminating deceptive and misleading information and applying fear tactics to encourage consumers to enroll in their plans. Once customers do enroll, they often find out they cannot receive the services they were promised or the services are not as represented. They recently lost a fraud case in Mississippi.

My opinion is that I think it depends on how much you really will use the service. I signed up for pre-pay legal with an employer I had many years ago. I think I used it one time in about 2 years, and when I did call with a question, the lawyer I spoke with really didn't answer my question (although he tried). If I remember correctly, the service was reasonable; about $6 per paycheck (bi-weekly-and it's been a while). But, since I never really needed it, I would have been smarter to keep the $6 in my pocket and just hire a lawyer if I really needed one. Lastly, and I can't confirm this, I think pre-paid legal just covers questions, and having documents prepared and court appearances cost extra.

I am a prepaid legal associate and at first, I thought it was something not for me bacsue I am a law abiding citizen, but then I saw how much more they can do for me. It ended up being great for me!
