Ask people to attend in person instead of sending out a mailer reminding them of the meeting. Call to chat with people and in passing remind them of the meeting and that you could really use their support. Sometimes the only reason people don't help is because they have never been actually asked. Good luck!

ummm...how about throwing a get-together instead of civic meetings. U can have pop, food, alcohol is always an attention getter. Think of fun things that the community can do together instead of boring meetings.

The last thing ppl want to do after they get home from work is go to another boring @ss "focus group" where u talk about stuff that never gets done or accomplished.

Establish a calling tree for your most active members. Each of them assigned to call and invite a specific number of "outsiders" from their own neighborhood to attend upcoming meetings,

Call every time a meeting is scheduled. And, as indicated in other posts, be certain that your meetings are not "boring."

I'll leave the solution to boring meetings up to you (tough task).

gathering alot of members for your group is one of the most difficult tast to achive for me because we are not the one who handles their time and their decision to make. so in order to gain alot of members i think make a list of those people who are vacant on that time or on this time. dont make only one schedule for that meeting so that those who have time could join you and those other people who dont have time for that, maybe the next scheduled time they can join with the same activity done on the first people your organization did.
