It doesn't hurt, it feels a little 'weird' when it pops too hard. I read other questions on here about people with tmj, but i'm wondering if people that have this also notice that their face is more asymmetrical than normal? My teeth are crooked and it seems to me that they dont fit like they should, although an overbite or underbit is not obvious. Is this condition serious, or can one live their whole life with this untreated and not suffer any consequences aside from hearing the popping and having a little bit of crooked face?

The jaw is not supposed to pop upon movement. If it does so, then it is not tracking correctly.

This IS tmj dysfunction. TMJ stands for Temporal-Mandibular Joint. It merely refers to the jaw's joint.

You have a misalignment issue. If this is left untreated for too long, then it will become problematic.

Think of a car that has crappy tire alignment for to long. It's not a big deal at first, but the longer it goes on, the greater potential for real damage there is.

A chiropractor can adjust the tmj, and correct the mechanics of your joint.

By going to the "mechanic" and aligning the "tire," the "machine" functions like it's suppose to.

You're fine. I have the same thing & the dr's told me not to worry about it unless it hurts. It has something to do with injuring your head at some point in your life.
