I'm gonna be in puerto rico this weekend, but solo, due to a last minute cancellation. I know that I will get out and about, but at the same time most poeple, at least in the city travel with other people. a lone beautiful (;-) female is a rare site. Any ideas on how to blend in?

I often travel solo, but my intention was not to be for this trip so it has caught me offguard. Im pretty confident and know I will run into people, but I am traveling to a more aggressive place as far as men's approaches towards single women which is why I ask. I will also be at a nightclub, with men predominantly and going through the whole men stalking you in a nightclub is not my idea of a good night. Basically how can you balance confidence, im fine by myself, with a don't mess with me kind of stance, lol.

I travel alone often, you won't have to worry about it if you keep busy, Sight seeing and beaching it during the day, which many people do alone anyway. At night, dinner alone is no fun, find restaurants where you can eat at the bar, that way you meet new people easily and there is always the bartender to talk to also. I have found things take off from there and I often get invitations of all kinds from the people I meet there (most are legit, you can always say no thanks if not). You'll have a blast.

Men have an 'agressive attitude' (whatever that means) towards women (single or elsewhere) anywhere you might go. It's in their blood not in their nationality. I live in Puerto Rico and have never had a problem when I'm by myself. Sure, men may say things but its all in good fun and it's happened to me in the United States too. So just relax and have fun, forget about the men! And you may just be surprised because the men here are as hot as they get and you may find yourself craving their attention

Why do you assume that "solo" equals "lonely"? Don't you mean confident?

It's not unusual for travelers to separate for a short time, so I doubt if anyone would assume that you are solo. Even while dining solo, it's possible that our companion was detained or took ill.

I've traveled solo and it was a fantastic opportunity to meet lots of other travelers. Here's what I found: other couples are more willing to strike up a conversation with you and possibly include you! Good Luck!
