I was sick about 3 weeks ago, went to the doc and he advised me to get Claritin. Worked the first day, then it didn't. I'm only congested and it's frurstrating, no sneezing, and a little bit of coughing. When I blow my nose, it's clear and very thick...I drink a lot of fluids...what else can I do?

Sounds like your allergic to something seasonal. Claritin might not work, try something different. I get the same thing every fall and spring.

Sometimes a magic hat does the trick. Seriously. The power of denial can work for you. If you believe a certain hat will make the congestion go away, then it will. Magic socks work on my three year olds growing pains.

Walgreens also carries something called a nasal rinse. Very disgusting procedure, but this thing works incredibly well.

Stuffy is bad. I get that way alergy season. I have never taken meds for it but I have some ideas for you. First make sure that you haven't changed your lifestyle. Eating, animals, moving, bedding and the like. Once thats out of the way try this: For general relief, get your nose running, via steam, spicey food or whatever does it for you. Then use afrin. That will help you sleep at night. Don't use it to long because afrin is addictive. As far as long term goes if it is allergies it can be adult onset and is usually seasonal. Change your lifestyle to fit your new annoying gift. You might look into a filter for your home heating system.

Check out this link to learn about jala neti. It's awesome and if you use the technique regularly, you will rarely, if ever, get a cold again.
