Let's all just con him into thinking we buy into his childlike nonsense, in spite of the fact that anyone with a mental age greater than ten knows it's ridiculous! Don't Christians realize how idiotic they make their God sound when they say he'd fall for this?

Pascals wager assumes that there is not any reward for being an atheist. If there's a god, and it has intentionally provided no information of its existence using fact it would not desire us to persist with any god (enormously not made up gods), then basically people who lack theory may well be rewarded.

It just shows how far this God thing has encroached into the human psych, if you follow Pascals wager, then you better believe in everything, up to and including human sacrifice.
Just in case all the Gods are real.
It's not that Christians make their God sound when they say he'd fall for this, It's the human race who appears pathetic that we are prepared to believe in sky-gods and fantasy land, just in case.
Be good all year round kids, because Santa may be real.

It amazes me that people still use it; hell even back when I used to be a Christian I knew better then to ever use Pascal's wager and would argue with other Christians that did (which got me banned from a few Christian forums, which in turn caused me to think more critically about my professed religion at the time(Christianity) and I eventually left it).

The fact is that no God would respect a person who simply "believed in" them just to save their own butt from going to hell. If he "knows what's in our hearts and minds" as Christians are so fond of claiming, then surely he would know your motive for believing in him was out of nothing but fear.

In the whole time I've argued with people about Pascal's wager, I have only had one Christian admit that it is a lame argument to try and get people to believe in their God.

For one thing, I do not need that Pascals Wager, tis an old argument.
A young and immature or false Christian may use this childish maneuver, but not a true mature Christian.
Pascals wager is for children.
I do not need it as I am sure of God, I do not have to "Play it safe"
I know God and I am sure of my salvation, I have no doubts.
How about you?
You are here aren't you?
Why?
If you are sure that God does not exist, then why waste precious time in here trying to convince others that God doesn't exist?
Providing of course that is what you are trying to do.
I mean, after all, If God doesn't exist and this is all there is and after you die, you just simply cease to exist, then it would seem logical that you would spend your time pursuing things that make you happy, like sex, partying, making money, all that ect ect.
Certainly trying to antagonize Christians isn't fun, if it is I would seek counseling, and please, don't try to sell me on that nonsense about trying to "enlighten" Christians, that is as old and Childish a maneuver as Pascals wager.

Hi,
I am trying to decide if you mean that God really is "dumb", of which fact I would be afraid to even utter those words. Unless you are blind and cannot see all of the beauty and intricacies in creation around you. For instance the universe hanging in the heavens upon nothing. The amazing creatures that help to pollinate crops, flowers and provide food for each other, how they interact with nature in general. On the other hand if you are saying that Pascal's Wager is dumb, I can agree. Anyone that had this opinion of God in general would definitely not have a good relationship with him and clearly do not know him at all. Ask Daniel whose account is in the bible when the mouths of the lions were stopped up in the lion’s pit. Ask David who brought a giant to the ground with a rock. Ask Noah whose family was spared in the flood, is the belief in God real? Ask the eye witnesses of Jesus resurrection; is belief in God possible or a 50/50 chance with only an explanation of believing because there is something in it for us? Yes there is something in it for us, IF we heed his counsel and follow his direction. If we are tired of the mistreatment in this unfair system and want a better condition of living now and forever, yes belief in God is a good thing. However I can agree with the 50/50 thing in one way, that you either do or don't believe in God. There is no gray area; the bible gives us everything we need to be fully competent and informed of what is pleasing to him. If a person takes the time to study and know the mind of God he can determine that there are not 50 versions of the bible, there is one. There cannot be thousands of religious beliefs and all be correct, just one true religion; and this was what was relayed to us by the mouth of Jesus Christ and his disciples. There ARE answers in the bible and people can build their faith if a personal study of the bible is done. Then you can determine for yourself, "Is this the religion I want to belong to?" If there is any false hood in religion at all - then it is not true religion. This being so because as the bible tells us "God cannot lie." Take to heart the admonition to draw close to God because the end is near. God has never stopped sending out his people to "declare the good news of the kingdom," and will not stop until he determines that the time is here for the "destruction of the wicked" and those who "do not know God." If you saw a house on fire, would you not go inside and help the members of that household escape? True Christians are doing the same today. Remember in the days of Noah they were eating and drinking and marrying, and then, the flood came and swept them all away.

Here is a piece of an article I found that I am including a link to:

In order to love God and give him the exclusive devotion that he deserves, we need to know him as he truly is. How can we get to know God better? "His invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world's creation onward," says the Bible, "because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship." (Romans 1:20) One way to get to know God better is by observing and reflecting appreciatively on what he has created.
The creation, however, does not tell us all we need to know about God. For instance, to understand that he is a real spirit Person with a unique name, we need to look into the Bible. Studying the Bible is, in fact, the best way to come to know God better. In the Scriptures, Jehovah tells us much more about the kind of God he is. He also reveals his purposes to us and educates us in his ways. (Amos 3:7; 2 Timothy 3:16, 17) How glad we can be that God wants us to "come to an accurate knowledge of truth" so that we can benefit from his loving provisions! (1 Timothy 2:4) Let us, then, make every effort to learn all we can about Jehovah.

No one of The True Christian would concider the "wager" to be a recruting tool.... just an example of "logic" that seems to be more along the line that athiests would take.... no one can win that "wager" and enter Heaven... The Truth of The Salvation Message is only available to those who honestly seek it.... ...

To accept Pascal's, you would need God to be oblivious to the fact that you were just believing in order to avoid hell. If you are just believing to avoid hell, I would suppose that wouldn't count.

the flaw in Pascal's wager, and one that Richard Dawkins points out is that you either believe that God exists or you dont...you can't be forced into believing (just in case) if you simply dont believe

I said a few minutes ago, and I'll say it again. It demonstrates how pathetically fear-based Christianity is, and it's a lousy reason for believing in God. Then again, Pascal said a lot of rather stupid things.

Perhaps the Christians should check out Occam's Razor for a change:
