As recently reported, these sisters have been linked to the original lady who posed for Leonardo Da Vinci in 1506, and has been recongized as La Gioconda or Mona Lisa.

Do you believe it is true?

If the Strozzi-Cuicciardini are correctly placed in that genealogy, and the subject of that painting is really in that genealogy, then it follows that is who it is, and they are descendants of her.
"Belief" has nothing to do with it. If you choose to "believe" that the painting that Leonardo hauled around with him for his whole life was really a picture of himself in drag, well, we are free to "believe" anything.

Hey Leonard,

That we shown on MSNBC. There seems to be 2 questions. One, how do we know that Gherardini was truly the model for the Mona Lisa. They were looking an forensic recreation of Gherardini's skull, that might show a likeness but is not proof that she was the model. That may be difficult to prove beyond all doubt.

The next piece would be Genealogy of the Girls Natalia and Irina which may be proven. Maternal DNA evidence linking the corpse of Gherardina and the two women would be better proof, that is unlikely for several reasons. First, if it is not a direct Maternal line, then Maternal DNA testing will not prove the relationship. Second, It might be difficult to get DNA from a corpse that old.

It is possible, but it will be a scientific nightmare to prove it is true
