General guidelines for alcohol consumption for people with diabetes:
- Drink in moderation.
- Alternate alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
- Choose low alcohol beers or wine rather than spirits or fortified wines.
- Eat slowly digested carbohydrate foods when drinking or just before drinking.
- Use low-cal mixers where possible.
- Carry diabetes identification in case of an emergency (e.g. a hypoglycaemic episode).
- Friends and family should be educated to recognize the signs of a hypoglycaemic episode and how to treat it.

Funny you should ask this question, I just posed it myself a few day after finding out I was pre-diabetic. I found that clear alcohol is the best. I had Vodka and Grapefruit juice the other night. Also Gin and diet Tonic is good. Problem is do not drink too much, because, it will lower your resistance to more, and more is not good for anyone, let alone a diabetic. Also, red wine is OK, in moderation.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

The real answer is that NO alcoholic drink is best for a diabetic. Alcohol can play havoc with blood sugars. You can go up, or you can go down rapidly. However, if you are going to drink, maybe red wine is best. It has some theraputic uses ... lower cholesterol.

Diabetics probably shouldn't drink any alcohol, BUT if you are going to drink something....
Red wine is probably best.
They make low-carb beer (Michelob Ultra is my personal preference). It has less sugar than regular beers.
If you are going to drink the hard stuff, the idea is to just not mix it in sugary mixes. Try Rum & Diet Coke or something like that.

Diabetes is usually treated through a combination of diet (low sugar), exercise and medications/insulin. Milder cases can be controlled with just diet an/or exercise while more severe cases require meds or insulin as well.
