Varies from state to state I believe.
IN Texas it varies from county to county but the average seems to be 1000 feet

Certain states have certain criteria and regulations. It's best to keep informed by that website, I use it too. Unfortunately, until our country's laws change to a no tolerance state, meaning, one offense and you're in the slammer for life, these sickos will unfortunately be repeat offenders. Get involved, watch Oprah, she touches on this subject many times over the course of a season, go to her website and get involved, and keep any eye on your kids, your intuition is the strongest power you have right now.

husband and I were just discussing this very subject this morning. we too found out that a predator is living very close to an elementary school. we became very concerned.
we also watched Montel this morning and it was this same subject, and how to get involved and save and protect our children from these monsters.
Predator Patrol was a very interesting site, very informative.

I think it varies by state, but I believe that generally 100 feet is as close as they ever allowed to be to a school, playground, or anyplace that children normally would be.

one of these will know... and call your local police dept and ask them. also one more thing, when a sex offender moves, it takes months to be even listed as a sex offender.
did they notify all of the area neighbors with in a certain miles of his house? i think they are supposed to.

6 miles in California, I don't know about my state but it would be hard every corner you turn there's a school or park, except in the ghetto and that is the only place I have seen them listed.
