My son came from the day care and they told me that he hit another child and the teacher had to separate him from the boy. Once home we realized he had bruises on his chest, back and arm, consistent with what he told me.
Day care said they will investigate but the teacher denies that he grabbed him hard.
Somebody told me I should call child services, I just need an honest opinion, should I call them so they can do their own investigation??

The day that it happened another teacher gave me the report and I was actually upset at my son because it said my son hit the teacher. But once we got home I asked him and he said that the boy hit him first and he hit him back. That is when the teacher grabbed him. He also told me that he hit the teacher when she grabbed him. I met w/ the director and they said they will investigate, the teacher denied it. However it was 2 bruises in the front of his body and back, he said she grabbed him by the shirt front and back. Then the arm had a bruise in the front and back like when somebody grabs your arm tight. That bruise in the arm is black and blue. He is only 2 years old.

well honestly kids get bruises all the time but this could be serious i would call cys (child and youth services ) or your local health department you can also ask the director of the daycare to see their past investigations or their inspection papers they must show them to you. another thing to think about is how does he act when he goes to day care is he terrified (not just whiney cuz your leaving) or scared in any way is he glad to see his teacher or not if he is scared and unreasonable and every day dropping him off is absolute hell than you have a problem if he's a little whiney cuz your leaving than it's normal.i have a two year old that is always saying that her brother hit or kicked her when in reality (i have seen what happened with my own eyes)he actually justed tripped on her foot or brushed his hand by her when he was going past her and she gets mad bubba hit me bubba kick me . she's actually 2 3/4 and can speak really well but sometimes gets confused ....... stuff happens trust your heart ..... 1 more thing i worked at a daycare about 20 years ago (yes i 'm old) and a little girl fell and got hurt she had to get 6 stiches her parents wanted everyone in jail sued and all sorts of stuff thank god for video cameras because i was about 1 foot from her she trippred and fell in front of a plastic PLASTIC slide so stuff does happen even when your right there when her parents saw the video footage they had nothing to do but apologse to me for their accusations and hurtful language but as aparent i do understand their reaction now so do what you think is right and follow your intuition .

if your child was grabbed hard enough to leave bruises then i would contact childrens services and let them do thier own investigation. i wouldn't send my kid back there either. i used to work in a day care center environment and i had to quit because rules were not being followed and there was nothing they would let me do about it. i made it better while i was there but i had to fight to keep the kids as safe as i could. even as going as far as talking to the school principal of the school where the center was at and convincing her that if it continued that the program needs to be taken out. as a employee of the center i took a lot of greif over the 2 years i was there but after the two years i just had to give it up because i could not stand the hassle anymore. i went back a while back and talked to some of the people at the school and they said that it has gotten a lot worse since i left. take it from someone who has been there. you think that because you pay out a lot of money to put your child in a day care center that they will be safe and that is not always the case. not every place is bad but you have to keep a close eye on things. working in a place like that certainly changed my mind no ever sending my kid to a day care. never in a million years would i do that now that i know how things are done. hope this helps you out and good luck in the future.

If that was my child, I would be madder than H****! And I would have started right then asking a lot of questions. No one would hurt my child and get away with it. Those teachers should know that they don't have to be rough with a 2 year old. OR any other child of any age. They could have been separated without hurting anyone.
I would definitely call someone to do an investigation, someone not associated with the day care. You are going to get far better results that way. The day care isn't going to admit to any wrong doing.
This is just a child, what on earth are those idiots thinking treating him so rough! Sorry for sounding upset, but children are to love, NOT hurt. and they can be disciplined without hurting them.

My daughter is 3yrs old soon to be 4yrs old in May. She was in a home daycare setting until July of last year and now she is in a pre-school with real teachers, class room setting, etc. Sometimes when we would come home from the babysitter and I would giver her her bath I would see marks on her body, on her arm where it looked like someone had grabbed her really rough and squeezed her arm really hard. I would also see scratches on her back and things of this nature. Now when I questioned the babysitter about the marks she said I'm sure they were playing rough, she didn't know what had happened. So when she started to go to pre-school I have yet to see any type of mark on her body, unless it's a scratch on her hand from falling outside or something. So I'm really beginning to think that the babysitter was hurting my child, and kicking myself now because I didn't do anything about it. Investigate this don't take it as lightly as I did.

I would go to the director of the day care facility immediately. You certainly do not want this to happen again to your child or any other child for that matter. I am surprised that your son's teacher did not tell you about the incident. I know that when my son went to day care they called me at work when another child had bitten him. If you do not get anywhere with the director, I would definitely call an outside source.

I have two little boys and if my child EVER came home from Day Care with sores like you speak of, that Day Care would HATE me and that teacher would be out of a job. As it is, they will probably fire him because someone has to take the fall and then leave it at that. If that isn't good enough (which for me it isn't because they are as responsible for your childs safety as the teacher), then I would call someone and my kids would be in another daycare.

well, kids get bruises commonly on their shins and lower back, I don't know about the chest and arms though. Seems like he's either playing really rough with the other kids or the teacher used too much force to separate them. In either case, it doesn't sound like a good atmosphere for your son, I would find a different day care pronto!
