Where do you live? If there's a nearby provincial (state?) park, you can ask if you can go there to reseed native plants. You could take a class of elementary students with you as well, they'd love it. Once you have a solid club, debates every month or so get the team working together and thinking. Try putting a recycling program together in your school if there isn't one: people love picking on administration. We put together Environmental Olympics during Earth Week: stupid things like setting the gymnasium up one day as a games area for hockey with a tin can, throwing peas through recycled toilet paper rolls...did it a couple years ago, can't remember it all. But it raised money for the group and allowed them to bring in a guest speaker. We have a program in Canada called EcoMentors, done through Environment Canada. Basically, your group picks an elementary class nearby and teaches them about environmental things, sets up a website for awareness and creates an Earth Day ceremony. Also think about helping with the school courtyard. I've found, (having been enviro club pres for three years in high school) that people either will come or will not come, no matter how much or how little you put into it. If they are interested, they will be there even when you have nothing to do. If they are not interested, not even babes in short shorts and swimsuits will attract them to the club. Best of luck :)

If you can find any garden space its a great idea to plant a small garden in the spring, try growing something like beets, radishes, carrots, potatoes, kale, spinach. Growing our own food will become increasingly important as the world runs out of oil and food transportation will get too expensive.

also look up Permaculture to find out much more information about what importance this will have in our future!

Environmental club! Good for you that's awesome!

My suggestions (don't know if they are "cool" enough)

-Build solar ovens... http://www.solarovens.org/

-Find out about hemp.. if you can grow it where you are at... so many products made from this versatile plant... hemp nuts/seeds, soaps, creams, cloth, paper etc.
This could maybe lead to projects for making your own natural beauty products using plants and plant oils.

-What about finding a school that could have a green space created that would be used for a garden for kids to learn about food?

-Tree dedications and planting... have your local celebreties and business persons buy a tree to be planted in a park, have a little plaque with their name on it.

-Make bird feeders out of safe materials that are being reused.
(I've made one out of an old small satellite dish)

-Make and post bat houses...the bats will help with insect populations.

-Have freecycle days...people bring items too good to throw out and trade their stuff for someone else's.

-Have a vegetarian feast... make awesome dishes, trade recipes, discuss oraganic foods, urge local farmers to grow some.

-Maybe find some guest speakers to give some talks about things important to your community... like a local ecologist talking about some birds or mammals in the area whose habitat is being reduced. Or a scientist informing you guys about polluting factories and bird populations... I dunno... you see what I'm saying..

Maybe these will trigger some ideas for you.
Good luck and thanks for being involved in something so good!
