First of all, do what's right. Spend it where you make it. Hondas, Toyotas, and the like are overrated, and much of the demand stems from the 70's and 80's when people's parents owned them. Granted, back in the late 70's and early 80's the U.S. automakers made cheap pieces of garbage, but that has all changed. The American cars are better built, more powerful, and are more economical. Use this to your advantage. I personally would recommend the car I own. I bought an '06 Pontiac g6 last june. Sticker price was over 23,000 but BECAUSE demand wasn't as high as it was for foreign cars, I got it down to 14,759. This is not a stripped-down model either. V-6, sunroof, cruise, 4 door, premium sound, etc. This car moves very fast, and gets about 33-34 mpg highway. I have never had any problems with it, and it has a good warranty which on the new models is 100,000 miles. Keep in mind that import parts and labor tends to be pricey compared to domestic vehicles. Please take your time and look at all cars on the market, and don't rely solely on "reports". Best wishes.

I have an 05. The body on the 07 is completely different but I think it looks pretty cool. It is a relatively inexpensive car. Civics are known for their reliability and great gas mileage. I love mine although its not that great in the snow (not sure if you have to worry about that). If you can afford it, go with the SI edition. Its quite a bit more expensive than the standard LX and EX editions but it's definitely more stylish and has a more powerful engine.
Good Luck!

I have a Honda Civic 2006. I love it, it's so great. It has the highest consumer rating and it's not too expensive. You have to push on the gas barely to go, and I like that. Not much horsepower, have to push on gas for 3 seconds for it to kick in. It's big inside, and seems really long when looking at it, but it actually isn't. I suggest you get this.

I husband had a Civic, he LOVED it! They are pretty good cars, I don't think you would go wrong with getting it. His brother also has one and he has had it for a really long time, and doesn't have any trouble out of it.

Why waste your money on brand new?
You can find the same features in a car that is a couple of years old, low mileage, and 1/3 less in the price.
