Quite possible either way. My first thought with my dogs is their tail knocked something across the room.

If there are no children or other pets in the house, and no one was inside, then yes, your dog either ate it, or knocked it down into a vent. It's possible for animals to eat the strangest things! My cat tried to eat a balloon once, all because it had a string attatched to it. My dog eats crayons, and blankets.
Give it a couple day to pass, and if it doesn't, then take him to the vet, or call thevet and ask if you can give him a little bit of a laxative, like Phillips. If it doesn't pass within a few days, then it's possible that he could wind up getting blocked. Causing him to throw up everything, even water, and not pass any stool. So taking him to the vet would be the best thing. Keep a close eye on him, make sure his appetite hasn't changed any.
Good luck to you, sounds like you're going to need it!! LOL

First I would look under the furnature and such. There is a good chance that it was probably knocked off somewhere. If you are really concerned that it was eaten, you have two things to do.
1. Get an x-ray from the vet. It will let you know if it is still in the dog.
2. Start disecting the poop. It will pass eventually, but you will need to look through all the droppings to find it.
Good luck on finding the ring! (hopefully it isn't in the dog!)

sure it is. dogs eat all kinds of things and a ring would not be unusual. If it's a nice, round ring and the dog is big, you may try just giving the dog some furball gel (they sell products for cats that help prevent furballs and this can help items move through the intestines better). Check with your vet and get a recommendation. A quick x-ray would tell you pretty quickly without having to wait to see if it comes out the other end.
good luck

Anything is possible. My friends had a dog that ate everything from cosmetics to the heels off of shoes.
After taking the dog out, check the stool If he did eat it, it will come out. If you're extremely worried and want to be 100% sure one way or the other, bring the dog to the vet. They can do an xray and you'll find out immediately.

Yes it is definately a possibility. Unfortunately for you, the only way to find out is to see if it now has a chocolate jewelry box. Good luck to you. I can't leave anything around for fear of being eaten. My dog has a real thing for socks and will somehow actually swallow them whole and it will bother her throat for a few days, in the meantime, they don't digest well either so they have a tendency to come out whole, not that I would ever use them again, it just makes for interesting pooper scooping.

Sure could have. I guess you will need to go and get disposable gloves and a stick. If it doesn't become lodged it will pass in the next few days. My sisters dog swallowed her engagement ring. They had to remove it surgically. Keep an eye on the dog for vomiting and difficulty having a Bowell movement. That's vet time. but, most likely it will pass on its own.

I would say yes it's possible. Is the dog prone to eating objects? My friends Basset Hound ate a huge rock and chewed his way through most of their wooden back steps! I would keep an eye on his poo for the next week or so! If he did swallow it I'm sure it will pass right through.

Have you looked all around the immeadiate area to make sure it hasn't fallen on the floor or under some furniture? If so, you may need to check your dog's stool for the next few days, if he ate it, the ring should pass right through.
