I don't get the equal treatment under the law thing? What laws are different for a gay man than for me? The law is the same for everyone and so is this equal rights thing I hear all the time. In the state I live in, it would be illegal for two straight men or two straight women to marry each other as well. I guess you could say that is equal treatment for all. It is not really equal rights that some say they want it is actually new rights that currently nobody regrdless of race, sex, color, creed, religion, or sexual preference has. There is a big difference between the two. I also dislike the comparrison of this issue to what black Americans went through not long ago. I have never saw a sign on a restaurant that says "STRAIGHT ONLY" or one on a restroom that says "NO GAYS ALLOWED". Personally I could care less about this issue or what people do with their private lives. I could never imagine waking up every morning with a big hairy leg rubbing up against me but to each their own I guess. I know you can never fix all the bias we as individuals have....and we all have them but the bottom line is in this country basic civil rights and laws are the same for all. What you are talking about changing goes much further than religion. I think our society and culture in general still views marriage as a union between a man and a woman and that will be difficult to change no matter how many new rights and laws are conceived.

First what is Religion?
Religion means knowing God and loving Him, So in its true meaning and application it should certainly bring union between all living entities.
what you find though is that politicallly motivated personalities take the focus away, and that is the cause of all the things people blame religion for causing.
If you see all the negative things attributed to religion, it's always self interested persons who have used religion to gain what they want. That bears no relevance to loving or knowing God. But sadly that has caused most people to throw the baby out with the bath water.

How ironic.
Take a look back over the last week at questions in this section.
How many were posted by atheists slating religion? over 70.
How many were posted by deists slating atheism? less than 20.
You tell me, which is more responsible for causing separation?
The answer to your question is - both, depending on what people do with it.
Peace.

Religion create separation. I believe that Jesus came here to free us from religions and to show the way to God. He wanted us to have a personal relationship with God. He was a Jew, He does no task us to become Jews. He want us to follow Him, follow His example. To accept God as Savior and get baptized.
I follow Jesus, I do not even like the word religion. I cannot deny who He is for the sake of union. So I do not believe that there will be one world faith ever. I would not bow down to a wrong god and turn my back on my Savior for the sake of unity. Because I want to be with y Lord forever. That is a big thing to me. : )

Because of man's lack of respect for one another, religion is causing separation.

Obviously it causes both. People come together for the particular religions, but are divided between them. So ultimately, it's separation that it creates.

Separation. More war, hatred, strife, and pain has been caused through religion than through anything else in history.

It creates union within a group who adhere to the same dogma, and separation from those who do not.
