The jury's still out on that one.
Ads say it's "made from sugar", what they don't tell you is that it's basically polychlorinated sugar.
There are no polychlorinated compounds in nature, all are manmade, and most are toxic. Think DDT, Agent Orange, etc.
Chlorine in salt and tap water is a natural compound, a small ionic molecule as it occurs naturally. Polychlorates are large molecules with covalent bonds and occur only under manufacturing conditions.
Splenda was discovered by accident, by chemists experimenting with new polychlorine compounds for use as insecticides.
Splenda is believed to be safe because it is believed that the polychlorinated compounds are not absorbed in the intestine in any significant amount. However, this is not proven in all cases (it cannot be), and some people consume an awful lot.
Splenda is heavily promoted by commercial interests, this is why it is so popular and believed to be safe. If you hear something enough times it seems true even if it is not proven or backed up by evidence or rational arguement. "Made from sugar -- tastes like sugar". As Lewis Carroll observed, "What I tell you three times is true"
I stopped drinking Splenda after using it heavily, and I feel a lot better for it. Now I use Stevia.

Any artificial sweetener is bad. Splenda is chlorinated sugar. Splenda is a chlorocarbon, and chlorocarbon poisoning can cause cancer, birth defects, and immune system destruction. Scientists who discovered Splenda were actually looking to make a pesticide. Stay away. If you're dieting, remember, a teaspoon of sugar (preferably unrefined or organic) only has 8 calories which you can burn off by breathing. I carry "Sugar in the Raw" with me.

No - it is the only artificial sweetner that is not bad for you. If you use that pink stuff - you are in very very grave danger of dying, and the blue stuff is only about half better than that. Diet Drinks are making American women fat as they make you crave carbs and sugar. Can I have a big mac and super size it with a "diet" coke and two apple pies and a ice cream. Standard order for everyone I hear say the word "diet" in a fast food place.

As I understand it NO, we have used it since it came out. My husband is a diabetic and this Christmas I baked cakes and A pecan pie with it. They came out very well.

We do not even keep sugar in the house.

Anything made with the chemical based sweeteners cause us serious stomach and digestive problems.

Well if your worried about caloric intake then the answer is no. However if your concerned about your sugar intake for other health reasons, keep in mind that artificial sweeteners may affect insulin response as a natural sweetener would.
