Yes, if you're coming from a different country. If you're coming from anywhere in the US, you're fine, because, remember, Hawaii IS one of the 50 states.

Hawaii has been a state since 1959--- the 50th state, in fact. So if you are traveling from another part of the United States, no passport is needed-- just like if you travel from Ohio to Indiana, you do not need a passport.
If you are not a US citizen and/or are coming from another country, passports are now required to enter the US.

Hawaii is a state in the US, therefor if you are coming from the US you do not need one unless you go to another country first. If you are coming from a different country you will need one. You do have to go through an agricultural customs though because they do not want certain things going into Hawaii. You can not bring fruits, vegetables, or snakes into Hawaii. If you would like to take something to hawaii or from hawaii it must be passed by a certain agricultural inspection first.
hope that helped

No, unless you reside in Canada, Mexico or the Carribeans. The new pass port laws say you need a pass port to return home to Canada, Mexico or the Carribeans. However, in Hawaii you only need a Drivers license or State ID, but if you have a pass port thats the best ID to carry, no confusion or harrasment by airport government security.
