Race and region go hand and hand. We look different because we are built for where we originate from. We were suppose to stay put I guess like Lions and Tigers and never intermingle.
I wish people would stop seeing colour as a link to the spirit or soul or IQ or integrity and realize it serves a purpose...

The Bible does not explicitly give us the origin of the different "races" or skin colors of humanity. In actuality, there is only one race - the human race. Within the human race is a great amount of diversity in skin color and other physical characteristics. Some speculate that when God confused the languages at the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9), He also instituted racial diversity. It is possible that God made genetic changes to humanity to better enable people to survive in different ecologies, such as Africans being better "equipped" genetically to survive the excessive heat in Africa. According to this view, God confused the languages, causing humanity to segregate linguistically, and then created genetic racial differences based on where each racial group would eventually settle, geographically. While possible, there is no explicit Biblical basis for this view. The races / skin color of humanity are nowhere mentioned in connection with the Tower of Babel.
After the flood, when the different languages came into existence, groups that spoke one language moved away with others of the same language. In doing so, the gene pool for a specific group shrunk dramatically as they no longer had the entire human population to mix with. Closer inbreeding took place, and in time certain features were emphasized in these different groups (ALL of which were present as a possibility in the gene code). As further inbreeding occurred through the generations, the gene pool got smaller and smaller, to the point that people of one language family all had the same or similar features, and it would be a rarity when a different feature arose.
Another explanation is that Adam and Eve possessed the genes to produce black, brown, and white offspring (and everything else in between). This would be similar to how a mixed-race couple often has children that vary greatly in color from one another. Since God obviously desired humanity to be diverse in appearance, it makes sense that God would have given Adam and Eve the ability to produce children of different skin tones. Later, the only survivors of the Flood were Noah and his wife, Noah’s three sons and their wives, eight people in all (Genesis 7:13). Perhaps Shem’s, Ham’s, or Japheth’s wives were of different races. It is possible that Noah’s wife was of a different race than Noah. Maybe all 8 of them were of mixed race, which would mean that they possessed the genetics to produce children of different races. Whatever the explanation, the most important aspect of this question is that we are all the same race, all created by the same God, all created for the same purpose.

Scripture says that God created man of all colors on the sixth day and He looked at what He had created, and found it to be very, very good.
As to why - God also states that every single soul that He created, He created for His pleasure. So, it would seem that it was because it pleased Him.
Another more practical idea beyond that is that God created all the races and saw they were very good - and created the skin color to naturally co-exist with the part of the world the person would live in - A black person's skin is perhaps more tolerate of the sun's rays, etc. Certainly we have to use common sense that when God created man he must have considered the natural elements (sun, wind, sand - whatever) since He also created those elements, and knows that flesh is very delicate and perishable. Just seems to make sense, ya know?

Well, I would guess that the different climates around the world make one skin color preferable. My sister was in a class at college that told her that the blue eyes originate in the northern part of the world where there is less light at some times during the year. Light eyes are more suited for seeing in dark conditions. More toward the equator, areas that have more sunlight more of the time, tend toward darker eyes. I think that skin colors work the same way. The fair skinned people would burn in the sun more than dark skinned, so where they originate on the globe would determine what they would be.

Dear Paapa,
I do not pretend to know why but let me make this observation.... Look at all the varieties of flowers, trees, birds, fish, and land animals. I believe that God is a master designer and His creations shows His creativity. When God created Adam and Eve, He made them very good. I believe that Adam and Eve (our first parents) had within them the genetic blueprint for all the different skin colors. Different conditions brought the various skin colors to manifest but we are all human beings and essentially brothers and sisters.

God is a creator,he creates. We have some of Gods attributes so in essence we are a reflection of who he is. If that is true, then we should take a look at ourselves. He is a God of variety.By creating different people and nationalities/skin tones he can show us,( through Him) the variety of ways He can manifest himself as well as different languages and cultures. Also God did not make a carbon copy of anyone. It is His will that we come in as many skin tones, sizes, nationalities, personalities, etc
as possible. There are billons on earth. The variety also serves us well because we can learn about each other and the differences between us. We are of Him and He is of us.

Look at the regions where one skin color is more dominate over the others. Location has a lot to do with it. Not climate as in evolution. Think that has a lot to do with why God created the three main skin tones. Olive, White, and Black!!!!

I am not sure why people are of different skin color.
What I know is God is light.
In the spectrum of light aren't there all colors?
Some colors are just absorbed or reflected.
Skin color does not matter to God.
He loves us all.
I believe that Jesus was dark skinned, short dark hair, clean shaven.
Maybe it is a test to see how we react to skin color.
I know that there is equality in the plan of God and skin color does not matter.
I had a "white" mother and Indian father.
I am light skinned.
I have experienced prejudice from my Indian (Native American)
family because of my light skin and have been called a "wannabee".
Very hurtful terms.
I have always longed for chocolate colored skin, long dark hair and brown eyes.
I have realized that God has a plan and a purpose for my life and made me this way for a reason.
I tell people that I am Indian but only inherited the "flat butt and alcoholism":)
Peace out.

Wow, what a question, has SCIENCE been able to explain why GOD?
Your mixing apples and oranges here my friend, skin color comes from generations being exposed, or not to the sun AND breeding among specific groups with little outside influence. It has nothing to do with God, it's why people of the tropic regions are darker and people of northern regions are lighter.
Science does not look to explain God, God is a faith, a belief not based on science.
Name a northern country that has dark skinned natives. There are none, any countries like the southern tip of South America for example are not indigenous people, they are transplants.
