Asking legitimate questions means a person is uneducated, wow. I guess that's better than feeling self-important although not knowing the answer. Help yourself to another nickel.

Coming from a from a man named Darwin I would guess you might be asked that question more than most. That being said the answer to your question would still be based on mere speculation, even for the most educated! But let me calculate this out based on the fact that you must think your more educated than most since you stated your question with that semantics. I also would have to be assumptive in my answer that you work or hang out in an environment where people bring that up in conversation more than most other people. Then I factor in that you or anyone is not exposed to Darwinian or Theology discusions until maybe 12 at the earliest. Now we don't know your age but let me assume you are 40 years old for the sake of computation. That would be 28 years of being asked that question (at the most, by also mere speculation) twice a month. Now if I do the math you have been asked that question approximately and speculatively 672 times at 5 cents a question. That means you would be $3, 360 dollars richer. So much more than a Ben Franklin but at that rate even if you live to be a hundred you could not have a million dollars accrued. So there is a brief and fun way of trying to measure that one Jim... with a name like bailey I would like to have a dollar for all the times I was called Beetle Bailey, or Won't you come home Bill Bailey... I'm not sure if it is the uneducated or the uninspired to find more interesting conversation! Peace out, Darwin and Jesus both are probably just glad to hear their names mentioned at all in todays society....Good Question!

We did not come from monkeys or apes. Think about the possibility of us actually evolving from some sub species. If math and science go hand and hand lets talk about some statistics real quick. These are ruff statistics so do not try to comment back and say those are wrong. There is maybe a billionth of a chance that a cell will mutate and cause something new. Which you might see in people with down syndrome or anything physical defect. That is just one cell that mutated for the worse and caused something wrong. Which is exactly what would happen if any sub-human were to evolve. So there is a billionth of a chance for that to happen in one cell. The human body is made of trillions upon trillions of cells. So each one of those cells would have to mutate over time to form what we are now. Plus if even one thing went wrong we would be utterly useless. It is insanity to even believe that we could evolve from any lower life form than we are now. Even Darwin himself says if there is now fossil background to prove that we evolved his theory is incorrect. Has there been a fossil background up to this day to prove that we evolved? No. There hasn't so there is still no proof that humans ever evolved. Why does everyone believe humans even evolved? I am not some big creationism advocate but there is no reason humans had to evolve. Does anyone question if a chicken was a chicken a million years ago? Everyone just blindly believes they were. There are a trillion things that could go wrong in one cell to evolve. Plus factor how many cells would have to evolve it is mathematically impossible. Most people are committing to pure chance. That is just stupidity. If the earth was even a inch closer or an inch further away from the sun than it is right now no life could live on earth. If even one inch out of the trillions of inches that it takes to get to the sun counts. Why wouldn't one off the trillion cells count? I am done trying to prove why we did not evolve from apes. I could write a book on reasons why we didn't. I am not trying to say what I believe is right all I am trying to say is do not follow so blindly what other people think.

ancestor
1. One from whom a person is descended, whether on the fathers or mothers side, at any distance of time; a progenitor; a fore father.
2. (Science: biology) An earlier type; a progenitor; as, this fossil animal is regarded as the ancestor of the horse.
3. One from whom an estate has descended; the correlative of heir.
Okay, so maybe they should ask, how come there is no evidence of my great great great great great great x a million so called years grandmother an ape? Is that better? You know what these people are aksing. So, where is the answer? Where are these in particular transistional fossils? They don't exist. Take for instance Nebraska man, that science claimed had an man/ape accestory from a single tooth which was later found out to be a pigs tooth that wasn't even old. It came from pigs that are still alive today. http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v13/i4/nebraska.asp
Anywho, the point is, even if they aren't asking the question how you would like them too, you still know what they are asking. And the fact that you would complain about the way the question is asked rather than just answering it, tells us you have no answer either.

C of course!
But I will have to say I remember BEING TOLD in public school (and in different schools) that we came from monkeys, not ancestors. So can't you blame people for not knowing the difference? I graduated in 2001 which wasn't that long ago at all so I can't imagine what people were told before then. By the time I was in high school, I started hearing people explain, "No, not monkeys, but a common ancestor."

HA HA YEAH I WOULD WANT MILLIONARE. but did you know that show way of the master well any way curt cameron called a bunch of airlines bc you know scientist and all that say we come from monkeys and bluh bluh well anyway he called and said i need a ticket for my causin how much would that be and we wanted a seat next to each other well of course they said ok that will be such and such price and then he goes well its my monkey causin well the people of the other line goes well sir they will have to be in a cage underneath the plane and then curt says well HE is my causin that is what the sciencetist says so if he is why cant he sit with me. WELL the next thing that happens is that they hang up on him. SO that proves that we did not come from monkey that people see humans as humans and not monkey bc if so we would be underneath the planes too or no one would be flying or driving and so on and so forth.
I know sorry got of your subject a little just wanted to share that with ya.

probally c but the update on evelution is that we didn't really come from monkeys. We came from a creature that split into monkeys and man and that split because modern man and neaderthal walked around the same time and the were not related directly either.

You see the question asked so often because all these people can do is repeat what their preachers tell them to say - in fact my question would be "if man comes from monkeys, do ill-educated Christians come from parrots?"

Shared common ancestor w/ monkeys is not the same as from monkeys.
You're looking at about 1,000$ a day.

I think most of us, creationist or evolutionists, agree that it is a pretty dumb question. You get a lot of dumb questions and dumber answers on both sides of the issue. Just let them pass, and pay attention to the intelligent comments made on both sides, trying to keep an open mind - which is pretty hard to do in this age.
