I currently weigh about 295lbs. I'm not ungodly fat. I am trying to lose 75 pounds, and maybe my stomach. I am trying to figure out what a good way to do this would be. I want to lose it quickly, but if it takes awhile, I'll deal with it. I hope to lose this weight by the end of the year. I'm not sure if I should try a weightloss pill. If so, which one? I am also trying to figure out what sort of exercises I should do. I have a knee problem, that is why I am trying to lose the weight, to keep pressure down on it.

I am 6' 3". Walking I can do. I think I can even do some light jogging without causing too much pain. But then again, no pain, no gain. I don't drink alchohol so that is easy to cut. My only thing is, I am a Coca-Cola addict. I have tried to give it up for Tropicana juices, but that didn't last too long. For some reason, I seem to reach for the coke first. The other problem I have is that I work 55 hours a week. I eat out, ALOT! It is hard for me to turn it down. That is how I got this way in the first place. For alomst 2-3 years, I ate out more than 3 times a week. I know that is bad, but I kick myself for letting this happen.

*Dont use any diet pills, in the long term they dont work(shortcuts never do)
*Try swimming, elliptical machines, biking, and do strenght training. Take stairs instead of elevators/escalators.
*You have to make changes in your diet and eat healthy foods. Substite better foods--Ask for a baked potato instead of fries at a resturant and drink water instead of soda ( you see what i mean)
*Making small changes like these, eat healthy, work out 4-5 times a week for 30-60 mins and you will see results (i ran 4-5 days a week for 1-3 miles each time and in 2 1/2 months i lost 15 pounds)
----Good Luck! I hope you reach your weight loss goals.

75 pounds weight loss is not an impossible task - but not a quick thing either (unless you get caught in some machinery). Gastric bypass or other surgery is not viable for that amount. 75 pounds in 11 months is doable, but really pushing it. Don't try it without a Dr's supervision. You didn't gain 75 pounds in less than a year - don't try to lose it in less than a year.

Eat right - Simplest diet I know of is "Eat what you want, just not so damn much of it!"

Normally, walking would be the best exercise, but if your knee won't allow it, try a stationary bike or if accessible, swimming.

for 75 pounds, shoot for Christmas - of next year - it would be the best Christmas present you could ever give yourself!

By the way, how tall are you? If you're 5'6", 220 is still too much. However, if your nickname just happens to be "Shaq", 295 isn't too bad.

Based on your additional input:

Although better for you nutritionally, that juice is probably higher in calories than the soda. Switching from regular soda to diet will help there. Oh, what's that? You can't stand the taste of diet soda?

Try this:

Mix 3 parts regular with 1 part diet
In a couple of weeks go to a 2 to 1 ratio
Now go 1 to 1
Now try 2 to 1 the other way
3 to 1
Go diet soda!
After awhile you won't be able to stand the taste of regular soda - Ask any diet soda drinker.

Good exercise for knee problems is swimming. Try a local YMCA or gym with a lap pool.

Dieting. I've tried them ALL! I personally am doing low-carb/sugarbusters. I alternate it so I don't get as bored. Low-carb - I don't eat anything with starches such as potatoes, bread, crackers, pasta, etc. Try to eat leaner meats. Eat veggies, cheese, etc. Sugarbusters is more no sugar, no processed starches. Whole grains are allowed. Be sure the ingredients on breads do not say enriched flour and that it doesn't have more than 3 g sugar. You can have fruits on it too. I've lost 30 pounds so far.

The best thing to get rid of to loose weight are sodas and sugars and drastically limit fast food. If you do nothing else, get rid of those three things and you'll lose some weight.

Yeah, 295 is ungodly fat. You can't lose it quickly, and keep it off. You need to start at the most basic step of excercise that your body can handle, and increase it by a little every day.

Walk 16min, or until you can't anymore.
Jog 2 min, or until you can't anymore. etc.

Also start doing some weight lifting, because the more muscle you have, the more fat you will burn.

Cut out all dairy, sweets, and carbs. Try to eat only veggies. Take an energy aid. Try taking Tonalin, and Cayenne, it helps to boost metabolism.

As far as the knee goes, why don't you work out your upper torso, until you weigh little enough to put more weight on your knee?

Try walking. It requires a lot of it, but it isnt very strenous. If you want to speed it up, try wearing a sweatshirt and walk in the heat. Trust me, I lost 45 pounds in two months doing that. Also don't drink sodas or beer, and cut way back on cheese and salad dressings.

Exercise and a decent diet are the only way you will lose weight and keep it off. You need (no pun intended) to see a doctor first and he will guide you from there. There are no quick solutions, time and effort and modifying your eating habits are the only ways you will lose weight and keep it off. Good luck, don't trust fad or crash diets.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Get started today!

For the problem of soda, there are some that are much better for you then others. Stewarts root beer has a lot less calories and is not a diet soda, so you get the full taste and sweetness.
